Narendra Singh Tomar assumes charge of Ministry of Food Processing Industries: Highlights with Details

Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Shri Narendra Singh Tomar assumed charge as the Minister of Food Processing Industries in New Delhi.

Shri Tomar is currently holding the charge of the Minister of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Minister of Rural Development, and Minister of Panchayati Raj.

Before this, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Harsimrat Kaur Badal resigned from the Modi cabinet. Harsmirat Kaur Badal was the Minister of Food Processing Industries and resigned in protest against two bills related to agriculture introduced in Parliament.


"I have resigned from the Union Cabinet in protest against anti-farmer ordinances and legislation. Proud to stand with farmers as their daughter and sister". Harsimrat Kaur Badal tweeted.

President Ram Nath Kovind accepted the resignation of Food Processing Industries Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal.

The government introduced the Farmers’ Produce Trade And Commerce (Promotion And Facilitation) Bill, the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Bill in Parliament to replace ordinances promulgated earlier.
