1. NRA expected to conduct CET Exams from September 2021: Highlights with Details
  • The Union Minister of State (Independent Charge), Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr. Jitendra Singh in a written reply in Lok Sabha today that NRA is expected to conduct Common Eligibility Test (CET) Exams from September 2021 onwards.
  • Government has set up National Recruitment Agency (NRA) vide order dated 28.08.2020, as an independent, professional, specialist organization for conduct of computer based online common eligibility test (CET) to shortlist candidates for vacancies of Group 'B' Non-Gazetted posts, Group 'B' Gazetted posts, which are exempted from consultation with the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC); Group ‘C’ posts in the Government and equivalent posts (where no such classifications exist) in instrumentalities of the Government, for which similar eligibility conditions have been prescribed.


2. Ministry of Tourism organises webinar on “Promoting Destinations with Authenticated Cuisines” under Dekho Apna Desh Webinar Series
  • The Ministry of Tourism’s Dekho Apna Desh Webinar series titled “Promoting Destinations with Authenticated Cuisines” on 19th September 2020 focused on India - a land with varied cuisines.
  • Dekho Apna Desh Webinar Series is an effort to showcase India’s rich diversity under Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat and it is continuously spreading spirit of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat through virtual platform.
  • The webinar focused on some traditional dishes from three states – Uttaranchal, Punjab and Delhi. The webinar was presented by Mrs Radha Bhatia, Chairperson of Bird Group, Mr Anooj Wadhawan, Executive Chef of Roseate House, New Delhi, Mr Chetan Rana, Executive Sous Chef of The Roseate Ganges, Rishikesh and Mr Anand Panwar, Executive Pastry Chef of The Roseate, New Delhi.


3. Cabinet approves Minimum Support Prices (MSP) for Rabi Crops for marketing season 2021-22
  • The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved the increase in the Minimum Support Prices (MSPs) for all mandated Rabi crops for marketing season 2021-22. This increase in MSP is in line with the recommendations of Swaminathan Commission.
  • The highest increase in MSP has been announced for lentil (Rs. 300 per quintal) followed by gram and rapeseed & mustard (Rs. 225 per quintal each) and safflower (Rs. 112 per quintal). For barley and wheat, an increase of Rs. 75 per quintal and Rs 50 per quintal respectively has been announced. The differential remuneration is aimed at encouraging crop diversification.


4. FACT signs MoU with ITI Kalamassery for improving industry institute interaction: Quick Highlights 
  • The Fertilisers and Chemicals Travancore Limited (FACT) and Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI) Kalamassery signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at improving industry institute interaction.
  • FACT a Public sector undertakings in India (PSU) under the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers.


5. Prime Minister Modi launches project to connect all 45,945 village in Bihar with Optical Fibre Internet Service
  • Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi launched the à¤¹à¤° गांव में ऑप्टिकल फाइबर द्वारा इंटरनेट की सुविधा” project on 21.09.2020 for connecting all 45,945 villages of Bihar on Optical Fibre for providing high-speed internet. This will enable digital revolution to reach the farthest corner of the State.
  • This project will be implemented in a short span of 180 days and will be completed by 31.03.2021 at an approximate cost of Rs. 1,000 Crore through CSC SPV providing 1 Wi-Fi and 5 FTTH connections for one year free of cost to identified Government Institutions, Primary Schools, Anganwadi Centres, Aasha Workers & Jeevika Didi etc. and one Wi-Fi at a public place in every village of Bihar. Rs. 640 Crore of capital expenditure will be borne by the Department of Telecommunications, Government of India.


6. Minister Jitendra Singh unveils the Logo and song for festival “Destination North East-2020
  • The Union Minister of State (Independent Charge), Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh unveiled the Logo and song for festival “Destination North East-2020” (The Emerging Delightful Destinations) through a video conference.
  • The 4-day event will be formally inaugurated by Union Minister for Home Affairs Shri Amit Shah on 27.09.2020, with Dr Jitendra Singh as Guest of Honour. The Chief guest for the closing ceremony on 30.09.2020 will be Shri Kiren Rijiju, Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, while Shri Rameshwar Teli, Union Minister of State for Food Processing Industries will join as Guest of Honour.


7. Government Approved Outlay for PM Svanidhi Scheme Rs.600.00 Crores
  • The Government of India approved outlay for PM SVANidhi scheme is Rs.600.00 crores. Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has, on June 01, 2020, launched Prime Minister Street Vendor’s Amta Nirbhar Nidhi Scheme (PM SVANidhi).
  • It aims at facilitating collateral free working capital loans upto Rs 10,000 of 1 year tenure, to about 50 lakh street vendors across the country.
  • It also provides for incentives in the form of interest subsidy @ 7% per annum on regular repayment of loan and cash-back upto Rs. 100 per month on undertaking prescribed digital transactions.


8. Prime Minister Narendra Modi Address the Convocation of IIT, Guwahati
    • Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi shall address the convocation of IIT, Guwahati through video-conferencing at 12 Noon, on Tuesday 22nd September 2020.
    • Chief Minister of Assam Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Education Minister, Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank , Union Minister of State for Education Shri Sanjay Dhotre and other dignitaries shall also participate in the event.


    9. Govt. has sanctioned Rs. 108 crores under UDAN for upgradation of 3 Chhattisgarh Airports
    • Government of India has sanctioned Rs. 48 Crores for Jagdalpur (expenditure incurred INR 45 Crores), Rs. 27 Crores for Ambikapur (expenditure incurred INR 27 Crores) and Rs. 33 Crores for Bilaspur (expenditure made INR 20 Crores) under UDAN scheme for up-gradation and development of 3 Airports in Chhattisgarh, said Shri Hardeep Singh Puri, MoS, I/C, Civil Aviation.
    • The inauguration of flight operations by Alliance Air from Jagdalpur (Chhattisgarh) to Raipur (Chhattisgarh) and Hyderabad (Telangana) under UDAN scheme.


    10. Govt. 78 New Routes Identified and Approved Under Phase 1 of UDAN 4.0
    • After three rounds of bidding under Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS)- Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik (UDAN), pre-COVID, 688 valid routes were awarded, out of which 281 routes were operationalized.
    • Airlines are resuming the commenced RCS routes in a calibrated manner. Further, 78 new routes have been identified and approved under 1st phase of UDAN 4.0. Airports Authority of India, the Implementing Agency is in the process of awarding these routes to the Selected Airline Operators (SAOs).
