Indian Navy – Sri Lanka Navy Maritime Exercise SLINEX-20 off Trincomalee from 19 to 21 October 2020 

The Eighth Edition of annual Indian Navy (IN) – Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) bilateral maritime exercise SLINEX-20 is scheduled off Trincomalee, Sri Lanka from 19 to 21 October 2020.

The Sri Lanka Navy will be represented by SLN Ships Sayura (Offshore Patrol Vessel) and Gajabahu(Training Ship) led by Rear Admiral Bandara Jayathilaka, the Flag Officer Commanding Naval Fleet, Sri Lanka Navy. Indigenously built ASW corvettes Kamorta and Kiltan under the command of Rear Admiral Sanjay Vatsayan, Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet, will represent the Indian Navy.

In addition, Indian Navy Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) and Chetak helicopter embarked onboard IN ships, and Dornier Maritime Patrol Aircraft will also be participating. The previous edition of SLINEX was conducted off Visakhapatnam in September 2019......Read More


First SCO Startup Forum to be launched on October 27, boost for Startup India 

The first-ever Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Startup Forum will be launched on 27th October 2020 ahead of the SCO trade ministers meeting on 28th October.

The forum will lay the foundation for multilateral cooperation and engagement among the SCO Member States to develop and hone their startup ecosystems, collectively.

Around 40 Indian Missions roped in to further augment Startup India efforts. Uttar Pradesh government has launched a 6-month long women empowerment campaign ‘Mission Shakti’ to raise awareness and tackle crime against women in the state .

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated this campaign Devi Paatan Shakti Peeth in Balrampur.

India Successfully Test Fired BrahMos Supersonic Cruise Missile from Indian Navy’s Stealth Destroyer, INS Chennai 

BrahMos, the supersonic cruise missile was successfully test fired today from Indian Navy’s indigenously-built stealth destroyer INS Chennai, hitting a target in the Arabian Sea. The missile hit the target successfully with pin-point accuracy after performing high-level and extremely complex manoeuvres.

BrahMos as ‘prime strike weapon’ will ensure the warship’s invincibility by engaging naval surface targets at long ranges, thus making the destroyer another lethal platform of Indian Navy. Indian Railway Catering And Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has restarted Tejas Express trains for catering to the growing passenger demand due to the festive season. The Lucknow-New Delhi and Ahmedabad-Mumbai Tejas Express trains were suspended from March 19 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Ministry of Steel in association with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is organizing a Webinar on ‘Aatma Nirbhar Bharat: Fostering Steel Usage in Rural Economy, Agriculture,Rural Development, Dairying and Food Processing’ on 20th October 2020. Sh. Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas and Steel will be the Guest of Honour at the webinar.

The webinar will also deliberate on challenges faced in procuring steel products and capabilities of Indian iron and steel industry in meeting the present demand, future expansion plans, manufacturing and R&D capabilities for developing new products.
