I. Scottish writer Douglas Stuart wins 2020 Booker prize for novel Shuggie Bain: Highlights with Details
  1. Scottish writer Douglas Stuart has won the 2020 Booker Prize for fiction with his debut novel Shuggie Bain, which described a boy growing up in Glasgow in the 1980s with a mother battling addiction.
  2. Stuart, 44, who won the 50,000 Pound prize after being announced the winner by chair of the judges Margaret Busby, delivered an acceptance speech.


II. PM Narendra Modi to inaugurate Multi-storeyed flats for Members of Parliament on 23rd November
  1. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will inaugurate Multi-storeyed flats for Members of Parliament on 23rd November 2020 at 11 AM via video conferencing. The Speaker of Lok Sabha Shri Om Birla will also be present on the occasion.
  2. These flats are located at Dr B D Marg in New Delhi. Eight old bungalows, which were more than 80 years old, have been redeveloped to construct 76 flats. The construction of these flats has been completed with savings of about 14 percent from the sanctioned cost and without time overrun despite the impact of Covid-19.

IV. Green Climate Fund approves $256 million for Bangladesh
  1. The Green Climate Fund has approved dollar 256 million for Bangladesh in grants and loan to meet its Green House Gas (GHG) emission reduction targets under the Paris agreement.
  2. The financing is provided as an integrated package for textile and Ready Made Garments (RMG) sectors of Bangladesh are the largest industrial contributors in carbon emission.


V. 28 Food Processing Projects worth over Rs 320 Crores Approved
  1. 28 projects, with project costs of Rs. 320.33 crores, supported with a grant of Rs. 107.42 Crores by MoFPI, were approved under the CEFPPC Scheme by the Inter-Ministerial Approval Committee (IMAC) meeting chaired by Shri, Union Minister, FPI. These projects spread over 10 states are likely to generate employment for nearly 10,000 people.


VI. First meeting of ‘cow cabinet’ to be held in Madhya Pradesh today
  1. Madhya Pradesh, the first meeting of the cow cabinet made for promotion and conservation of cows in the state will be held today.
  2. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh will virtually join the meeting from Bhopal.


VII. PM Narendra Modi lay the foundation stone of rural drinking water supply projects in Vindhyachal region of Uttar Pradesh
  1. The projects will provide household tap water connections in all rural households of 2,995 villages and will benefit about 42 lakh population of these districts. Village Water and Sanitation Committees/ Paani Samiti have been constituted in all these villages, who will shoulder the responsibility of operation and maintenance. 
  2. The total estimated cost of the projects is Rs 5,555.38 Crore. The projects are planned to be completed in 24 months.


VIII. ICC postpones 2022 women's T-20 world cup till February 2023
  1. The International Cricket Council has postponed the South African edition of the Women's T20 World Cup by three months to February 2023 to avoid a cluster of big-ticket events in 2022.
