India, ADB sign USD 300 million loan to upgrade power distribution network in Uttar Pradesh: Quick Highlights      

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Government of India signed a $300 million loan to upgrade rural power distribution networks to provide reliable electricity supply to consumers in the state of Uttar Pradesh.

The MoU Signed by 

The signatories to the tranche 1 loan for Uttar Pradesh Power Distribution Network Rehabilitation Project were Dr. C. S. Mohapatra, Additional Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs in the Ministry of Finance who signed for the Government of India, and Mr. Takeo Konishi, Country Director of ADB’s India Resident Mission who signed for ADB.

Virtual Summit between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Prime Minister of Vietnam Nguyen Xuan Phuc  

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will be holding Virtual Summit with the Prime Minister of Vietnam H.E Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phuc on 21 December 2020.

Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh hands over DRDO systems to Armed Forces Chiefs  

Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh today handed over three indigenously developed Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) systems to Army, Navy and Air Force at a function held in DRDO Bhawan.

Shri Rajnath Singh handed over the Indian Maritime Situational Awareness System (IMSAS) to the Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Karambir Singh, ASTRA Mk-I Missile to Air Chief Marshal Rakesh Kumar Singh Bhadauriaand Border Surveillance System (BOSS) to the Chief of Army Staff General MM Naravane. The handing over of these products was done in the presence of Raksha Rajya Mantri Shri Shripad Yesso Naik, the Guest of Honour and Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat.


ADB, India sign facility to support preparation of infrastructure projects in Tripura   

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Government of India today signed a $4.21 million project readiness financing (PRF) facility for the preparation of infrastructure development projects to improve urban amenities and develop tourism infrastructure in the northeastern state of Tripura. This is ADB’s first PRF facility for a state in the northeastern region of India.

The MoU Signed by

The signatories to the PRF for Tripura Urban and Tourism Development Project were Dr. C. S. Mohapatra, Additional Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs in the Ministry of Finance who signed for the Government of India, and Mr. Takeo Konishi, Country Director of ADB’s India Resident Mission who signed for ADB.


Ministry of Food Processing Industries signs a Joint Communique and 5 MoUs with Ministry of Tribal Affairs, TRIFED, ICAR, NSFDC, NAFED and NCDC  

Ministry of Food Processing Industries signeda Joint Communique with Ministry of Tribal Affairs and 5 MoUs with TRIFED(Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India ), ICAR( Indian Council of Agricultural Research), NSFDC(National Scheduled Castes Finance and Development Corporation), NAFED (National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Ltd. ) and NCDC (National Cooperative Development Corporation) defining convergence mechanism in implementation of PM FME scheme.

Further, the MoFPI signed an agreement with Union Bank of India as nodal bank for PM FME scheme. In another meeting chaired by Shri Narendra Singh Tomar, Union Minister for FPI, 231 ODOP of 15 states and UTs were approved.

The joint communique would enable easier identification of Tribal enterprises and groups in food processing sector including minor forest produce. MoU with TRIFED would help in branding of food products made by tribals under ‘TRIFOOD’. MoU with ICAR would help in sharing food processing technolofy, packaging and machinery developed in various organisations. 

MoU with NSFDC would enable capacity building, training, research and development of SC entrepreneurs, SHGs and other groups in foor processing sector. MoU with NAFED would help in developing new brand for ‘ NAFED FOOD’ products. NCDC MoU would help in preparing projects and detailed project reports of members of cooperative societies in food processing sector. Union Bank of India would help in transferring the subsidy recevied from Centre and states into loan accounts.


Gadkari to inaugurate and lay foundation stone for 33 highway projects worth nearly Rs. 11,000 crore in Karnataka  

Union Minister for Road Transport, Highways and MSMEs Shri Nitin Gadkari will inaugurate and lay foundation stone for 33 highway projects in Karnataka today.

These projects for inauguration and foundation laying carry a Road length of nearly 1200 kilometers, involving construction value of nearly Rs. 11,000 crore. Paving the way for development of Karnataka, these roads will enhance better connectivity, convenience and economic growth in the State.


President Kovind to Grace the Goa’s Liberation Day Celebrations in Panaji Today

The President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, will visit Goa (Panaji) on December 19 and 20, 2020, to grace the commencement of the 60th Goa’s Liberation Day celebrations on December 19, 2020.
