I. 4th India - Indonesia Virtual Bilateral Meeting held on Drug Control Cooperation
  • The 4thBilateral Joint Working Group (JWG) meeting between the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) India and the National Narcotics Board (BNN), Indonesia was held on 17th December, 2020. 
  • The Indian delegation was led by Shri Rakesh Asthana, Director General, Narcotics Control Bureau, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India and the Indonesian delegation was led by Mr. Puji Sarwono, Deputy of Legal Affairs and Cooperation, National Narcotic Board of Indonesia.


II. “Hunar Haat” being organised at Rampur (UP) from 18th to 27th Dec, 2020: Quick Highlights
  • Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Shri Nitin Gadkari will inaugurate the 23rd “Hunar Haat” of indigenous master artisans, being organised by Union Ministry of Minority Affairs at Numaish Ground, Panvadiya in Rampur (UP), today18th December 2020. 
  • “Hunar Haat” in Rampur being organised from 18th to 27th December, 2020. The people will also enjoy traditional delicacies from almost every corner of the country at this “Hunar Haat”. Besides, different cultural programmes on the theme of “Jaan Bhi, Jahaan Bhi”, to be presented every day by renowned artists, are also a major attraction.


III. India, Bangladesh sign 7 MoUs, agreements during the virtual summit
  • India and Bangladesh signed seven MoUs and agreements during the virtual summit between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina that took place.
  • The agreements include a framework of understanding in Hydrocarbon sector, framework agreement on High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP), protocol on transborder elephant conservation, an MoU on the supply of equipment and improvement of Garbage and solid waste disposal, MoU in the field of agriculture, an MoU between National Museum Delhi and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Memorial museum, Dhaka and terms of reference for India Bangladesh CEO forum.


IV. ISRO launches new communication satellite CMS-01 successfully: Highlights with Details
  • The Indian Space Research Organisation, ISRO, has successfully launched the country’s new communication satellite CMS-01 in the intended orbit in space. The workhorse rocket PSLV-C50 carrying the satellite lifted off from the second launch pad of the Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota at 15.41 hours as planned.


V. PM Modi to deliver keynote address at ASSOCHAM Foundation Week 2020 on 19th December
  • Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will deliver the keynote address at ASSOCHAM Foundation Week 2020 on 19th December at 10:30 AM via video conferencing. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also present the ‘ASSOCHAM Enterprise of the Century Award’ to Shri Ratan Tata, who will receive the award on behalf of the TATA Group.
  • ASSOCHAM was established in 1920 by promoter Chambers representing all regions of India. Having in its fold over 400 Chambers and Trade Associations, and serving over 4.5 lakh members across India, ASSOCHAM has emerged as the fountainhead of knowledge for Indian industry.


VI. PM Narendra Modi and PM Sheikh Hasina to jointly unveil Commemorative stamp on Bangabandhu
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be holding a virtual Summit with his Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. 
  • Bangladesh is commemorating the year 2020 as Mujib Borsho – the birth centenary of the father of the nation of Bangladesh – Sheikh Mujibur Rahman popularly known as Bangabandhu. In honor of this great leader, both Prime Ministers will jointly inaugurate a commemorative stamp on Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahma.


VII. D.V. Sadananda Gowda inaugurates the Annual Summit of Organisation of Pharmaceutical Producers of India (OPPI)
  • The Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers Shri D.V. Sadananda Gowda inaugurated the two-day Annual Summit of the Organisation of Pharmaceutical Producers of India (OPPI) in New Delhi. The Minister Conferred the lifetime achievement and Special Recognition awards during the summit.


VIII. India-Bangladesh to reopen Chilahati-Haldibari rail link after 1965
  • India and Bangladesh are going to reopen the Chilahati-Haldibari rail link after it was cut off during the 1965 war, nearly 55 years ago.
  • The inauguration of the rail link will take place during the Virtual Summit of the Prime Ministers of India and Bangladesh.


IX. 35th edition of India - Indonesia Coordinated Patrol
  • The 35th edition of India-Indonesia Coordinated Patrol (IND-INDO CORPAT) between the Indian Navy and the Indonesian Navy is being conducted from 17 to 18 December 2020.
  • Indian Naval Ship (INS) Kulish, an indigenously built missile corvette along with P8I Maritime Patrol Aircraft (MPA) will undertake coordinated patrol with Indonesian Naval Ship KRI Cut Nyak Dien, a Kapitan Pattimura (Parchim I) class corvette and a MPA of the Indonesian Navy.


X. India-Maldives Defence Cooperation Webinar and Expo held
  • A webinar and Expo between India and Maldives were held today. The Theme of webinar was ‘Joint Indo Maldives High Level Defence Engagement’. It was organised under the aegis of Department of Defence Production (DDP), Ministry of Defence (MoD) through Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI).
  • This webinar is the part of Aero India 21 series of webinars which is being organised to boost defence cooperation and engagements with friendly foreign countries.
