1. PM Narendra Modi to launch Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY SEHAT to extend coverage to all residents of J&K
  • Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will launch Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY SEHAT to extend coverage to all the residents of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir on 26th December 2020 at 12 noon via video conferencing.
  • The scheme will ensure Universal Health Coverage and focus on providing financial risk protection and ensuring quality and affordable essential health services to all individuals and communities. Union Home Minister and Lieutenant Governor of J&K will also be present on the occasion.


2. Gadkari Announces Enforcement of Mandatory FASTag from 1st January, 2021: Quick Highlights
  • Union Minister for Road Transport, Highways and MSMEs Shri Nitin Gadkari announced that FASTag is being made mandatory for all vehicles in the country from new year. 
  • Addressing a virtual function, He said, FASTag will be enforced from 1st of January, 2021. Enumerating its benefits, he said, it is useful for the commuters as they will not need to stop at toll plazas for cash payments. It also saves time and fuel.


3. Thaawarchand Gehlot Launches Mobile Application “Swachhata Abhiyan”
  • Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Shri Thaawarchand Gehlot launched a Mobile Application “Swachhata Abhiyan” in New Delhi.
  • In the absence of any authentic data base regarding the location of insanitary latrines, it has been decided to seek the help of NGOs, Social Organisations and general public for collection and compilation of the data.


4. President Ram Nath Kovind to Visit Diu from December 25 to 28
  • The President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, will visit Diu from December 25 to 28, 2020. On December 25, 2020, the President will inaugurate the Jalandhar Circuit House in Diu.
  • On December 26, 2020, the President will inaugurate/lay the foundation stone for various developmental projects in Diu such as inauguration of first academic session of IIIT Vadodara-International Campus Diu; and Kamleshwar School, Ghoghla; laying of foundation stones for construction of a school at Saudwadi; improvement of 1.3 kilometre heritage walk-way on Diu City Wall etc.


5. National Consumer Day, 2020 with the theme of “New Features of Consumer Protection Act 2019”observed
  • The Department of Consumer Affairs, Ministry of Consumer Affairs Food and Public Distribution virtually celebrated the National Consumer Day 2020 with the theme “New Features of the Consumer Protection Act, 2019” in association with the Centre for Consumer Studies, Indian Institute of Public Administration in New Delhi.


6. Gadkari inaugurates and lays foundation stone for 18 highway projects in Rajasthan
  • Union Minister for Road Transport, Highways and MSMEs Shri Nitin Gadkari inaugurated and laid foundation stone for 18 highway projects in Rajasthan.
  • These projects carry a road length of nearly 1127 kilometers, involving construction value of Rs. 8,341 crore. These projects will ease the transportation of commercial goods within and across the State, will improve connectivity at the borders, enhance employment opportunities, save time and fuel, improve tourism and infra development, and will result in providing connectivity for agricultural produce up to larger markets.
