1. PM Narendra Modi to lay Foundation Stone of AIIMS at Rajkot on 31 December: Quick Highlights 

• Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will lay the Foundation Stone of AIIMS at Rajkot, Gujarat on 31st December 2020 at 11 AM via video conferencing. Governor of Gujarat, Chief Minister of Gujarat, Union Health Minister and Union MoS for Health will also be present on the occasion.
• For the project, 201 acres of land has been allotted. It will be built at an estimated cost Rs. 1195 crores, and is expected to be completed by mid of 2022.

2. DRDO Young Scientists Laboratory Develops Quantum based technology for Random Number Generation (QRNG)

• DRDO Young Scientist Laboratory for Quantum Technologies (DYSL-QT) has developed a Quantum Random Number Generator (QRNG) which detects random quantum events and converts those into a stream of binary digits. 
• The Laboratory has developed a fiber-optic branch path based QRNG. Branch path based QRNG is based on the principle that if a single photon is incident on a balanced beam splitter, it will take either of the beam-splitter output paths randomly. As the path chosen by photon is random, the randomness is translated to sequence of bits.

3. Harsh Vardhan inaugurates Meteorological (Met) Centre at Leh via video conferencing

• The Union Minister of Earth Sciences, Science & Technology and Health& Family Welfare Dr Harsh Vardhan inaugurated Meteorological (Met) Centre at Leh(Ladakh)via video conferencing at an event.

4. Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Mumbai develops Eye Cancer therapy

• The Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) Mumbai for developing Eye Cancer therapy in the form of the first indigenous Ruthenium 106 Plaque for treatment of Ocular Tumours. The handling of plaque is very convenient for the Surgeon and it has been acknowledged to be at par with the international standards.
• The Department of Atomic Energy is also contributing in other areas like, for example, the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) is developing Bullet Proof Jackets for security personnel and in the Agricultural sector, radiation techniques to extend shelf life of vegetable and food products are being applied.

5. Harsh Vardhan launches ‘Digital Ocean’ -the first of its kind digital platform for Ocean Data Management

• The Minister of Earth Sciences, Science & Technology, and Health & Family Welfare Dr. Harsh Vardhan inaugurated the web-based application “Digital Ocean (www.do.incois.gov.in)” developed by INCOIS of M/o Earth sciences , during a Virtual Meeting held in New Delhi.

6. India's First Pollinator Park inaugurates in Haldwani, Uttarakhand

• India's first Pollinator Park with over 40 species of butterflies, birds and insects has been inaugurated over four acres at Nainital's Haldwani, Uttarakhand. 
• India's first Pollinator Park in Haldwani, Uttarakhand, developed by the research wing of the Uttarakhand Forest Department, the colourful park was inaugurated by renowned butterfly expert Peter Smetacek.

7. Harsh Vardhan releases the report Action Agenda for an AtmaNirbhar Bharat(AAAN)

• The Minister of Science& Technology, Earth Sciences and Health & Family Welfare Dr Harsh Vardhan released the report Action Agenda for an AtmaNirbhar Bharat(AAAN) prepared by Technology Information, Forecasting and Assessment Council (TIFAC) in New Delhi.
• The comprehensive report AAAN is a consequential follow-up of the TIFAC’s White Paper on Focused Interventions for ‘Make in India’: post COVID -19 which was released earlier in July, 2020 by Dr Harsh Vardhan.

8. President Kovind to confer Digital India Awards 2020 today

• President Ram Nath Kovind will virtually confer the Digital India Awards 2020 through video conferencing today. In line with Digital India’s vision, this is the first time that the entire process of the Digital India Awards is being conducted online from nominations to screening to the final awards ceremony. 
• National Informatics Centre (NIC) under Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY) has been conducting the biennial Digital India Awards (DIA) to promote innovation in e Governance and digital transformation of government service delivery mechanism.
