India - Uzbekistan joint military exercise DUSTLIK II held in Ranikhet Uttarakhand from 10 to 19 March 2021  

2nd edition of India - Uzbekistan joint military exercise DUSTLIK: The India – Uzbekistan joint military exercise “DUSTLIK II” commenced in Foreign Training Node Chaubatia, Ranikhet (Uttarakhand). This is the Second Edition of annual bilateral joint exercise of both armies. It will continue till 19th March 2021. The first edition of the exercise was held at Uzbekistan in Nov 2019.

Key Highlights - Indo-Uzbekistan Field Training Exercise 'DUSTLIK '

45 Soldiers each from Uzbekistan and Indian Army are participating in the exercise. Both contingents will be sharing their expertise and skills in the field of counter terrorist operations in mountainous/rural/urban scenario under UN mandate. 

The exercise will culminate into a 36 hours joint validation exercise scheduled from 17 to 18 March 21. The validation exercise will be a test bed for the soldiers of both armies as they would be undergoing the challenges of actual operations in such scenarios......Read More

1st Meeting of the BRICS Contact Group on Economic and Trade Issues held from 9th to 11th March 

The BRICS Contact Group on Economic and Trade Issues (CGETI) leads held their first meeting under India’s Chairship from 9-11 March 2021. The theme of BRICS this year is -"BRICS@15: Intra BRICS Cooperation for Continuity, Consolidation, and Consensus”.

India, under its Chairship in 2021, presented the calendar of events for BRICS CGETI 2021, which included the priority areas for deliverables, schedule and scope of the MSME roundtable conference workshop on Services Statistics, and the BRICS Trade Fair. This was followed by a series of presentations, scheduled in separate sessions, made by the concerned Departments of the Government of India on the proposed deliverables during India’s Chairship under the BRICS CGETI track.


President Kovind visit Uttar Pradesh from March 13 to 15 2

President Kovind visit Uttar Pradesh from March 13 to 15. The President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, will visit Uttar Pradesh from March 13 to 15, 2021. The President will reach Varanasi in the afternoon of March 13, 2021.

On March 14, 2021, the President will visit Chapki in Sonbhadra district where he will grace the Vanvasi Samagam and inaugurate the newly constructed building of Seva Kunj Ashram.

On March 15, 2021, the President will grace the inaugural session of Jagran Forum on issues of Ganga, Environment and the culture of India, being organised by Dainik Jagran in Varanasi.


27th “Hunar Haat” being organised at Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) 

27th “Hunar Haat” is being organised at Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) from tomorrow 12th March with “Commitment to Swadeshi & Swavalamban” (self-sustenance) and “Resolve to Self-reliant India”.

The Union Minority Affairs Ministry is organising the 27th “Hunar Haat” at Lal Parade Ground, Bhopal with the theme of “Vocal for Local” till 21st March, 2021. More than 600 artisans, craftsmen from more than 31 States/UTs are participating in the “Hunar Haat” in Bhopal

Artisans from Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chandigarh, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu-Kashmir, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Odisha, Puducherry, Punjab, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal etc have brought rare elegant and magnificent indigenous handmade products for sale and display.

Next “Hunar Haat” will be organised in Goa (25 March to 04 April); Dehradun (9 April to 18 April); Surat (23 April to 2 May). Besides, the “Hunar Haat” will also be organised at Kota;Hyderabad;  Mumbai; Jaipur; Patna; Prayagraj; Ranchi; Guwahati; Bhubaneswar; Jammu-Kashmir etc this year.


Piyush Goyal flags off 3000 HP Cape Gauge Locomotive for export to Mozambique  

The Union Minister of Railways, Shri Piyush Goyal flagged off 3000 HP Cape Gauge Locomotive indigenously developed by Banaras Locomotive Works, Varanasi via video conferencing along with Minister of Transport and Communications, Government of Mozambique.

The export of locomotives to Mozambique shall boost the Indo-African relationship and pilot the economic empowerment through export. Indian Railways is exporting first batch of 2 locomotives as part of total order of 6 locomotives of 3000 HP cape gauge locomotive and 90 stainless steel passenger coaches to Mozambique. These locomotives are developed indigenously by Banaras Locomotive Works under Make-in-India, they are being exported through Indian Railways’ PSU, Rites Limited. In spirit of Atmanirbhar Bharat, these Cape Gauge Diesel Locos have been designed in India, Made in India and financed by India.


US Defence Secretary General Lloyd J Austin to visit India from 19th March

US Defence Secretary General Lloyd J Austin will be on a three day visit to India from 19th March 2021. During his visit, Secretary Austin is expected to meet Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and
other senior officers.
