Justice Nuthalapati Venkata Ramana appointed as 48th Chief Justice of India (CJI)  

The President of India, in exercise of the powers conferred by clause (2) of Article 124 of the Constitution of India, appointed Shri Justice Nuthalapati Venkata Ramana, Judge of the Supreme Court, to be the Chief Justice of India. A notification in this regard has been issued by the Department of Justice, Ministry of Law & Justice today. The Warrant of Appointment and a copy of the Notification of Appointment have been handed over to Shri Justice N. V. Ramana.

3rd India-Bahrain High Joint Commission meeting to be held in New Delhi  

The third India-Bahrain High Joint Commission meeting will be held in New Delhi. It will be co-chaired by Minister of External Affairs Dr. S. Jaishankar and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain, Dr Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani.

Both sides reviewed their cooperation in different areas, including oil and gas, trade and investment, defence and security, food security, healthcare, renewable energy, space, IT, human resource, education and culture.


ECI hosts 2 day International Virtual Election Visitors Programme (IVEP) 2021  

Election Commission of India hosted International Virtual Election Visitors Programme (IEVP) 2021 for Election Management Bodies (EMBs) / Organisations from 26 countries and three International Organisations during the ongoing elections for Legislative Assemblies of Assam, Kerala, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal.

Participate by -

Over 106 delegates from over 26 countries across the world including Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Cambodia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Republic of Korea, Madagascar, Malawi, Malaysia, Maldives, Mauritius, Mongolia, Nepal, Panama, Philippines, Romania, Russia, South Africa, Suriname, Ukraine, Uzbekistan and Zambia etc. and 3 international organizations (viz. International IDEA, International Foundation of Electoral Systems (IFES) and Association of World Election Bodies (A-WEB) are participating in the IEVP 2021. Delhi Govt: Night curfew imposed in Delhi till April 30 in view of rising Covid-19 cases  

Delhi government has imposed night curfew in the national capital from 10 PM to 5 AM with immediate effect till 30th April. There will be no restrictions on traffic movement during night curfew.

People can get vaccinated but need to have an e-pass. Owners of ration, general, fruits, vegetables and medical stores will be allowed on e-pass. Print and electronic media personnel will also be allowed to move on e-pass.


Gujarat government decides to impose night curfew in 20 cities  

Gujarat government has announced night curfew in 20 cities from today. the 10 pm to 5 am curfew will be in force till 30th of this month. 

The cities where night curfew will be imposed include Ahmedabad, Surat, Rajkot, Vadodara, Junagadh, Nadiad, Mehsana, Morbi, Patan, Godhra, Dahod, Bhuj and Gandhinagar.


25-day long ceremonial ‘Dandi March’ as part of ‘Aazadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ concludes 

The Vice President, Sh M. Venkaiah Naidu graced the colourful closing ceremony of the 25-day long commemorative Dandi Padyatra as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav near National Salt Satyagraha Memorial , Dandi, Gujarat. The function was organised by the Ministry of Culture and State government of Gujarat.

Veteran journalist Dr. Fatema Zakaria passes away at 85  

Veteran journalist and Chairman of Aurangabad's prestigious educational institution Maulana Azad Campus Dr. Fatema Zakaria passed away in Aurangabad. She was 85.

She was conferred with Padma Shri for her excellent contribution in education and educational reforms.

The Central Government has asked all its employees aged 45 years and above to get themselves vaccinated to effectively contain the spread of COVID-19.

As per order issued by the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, they are also advised to continue to follow COVID-appropriate behaviour even after vaccination by frequent washing of hands and sanitisation, wearing a mask or face cover and observing social distancing etc.
