1. IMF upgrades India's growth forecast to 12.5 percent in FY-2021: World Economic Outlook Report
  • According to the latest World Economic Outlook report, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has upgraded its growth projection for India to 12.5 per cent for the Financial Year FY-2021-22.
  • The IMF has pegged India's GDP to grow 1 per cent higher than its previous report published in January this year.

3. 3rd India-Bahrain High Joint Commission meeting to be held in New Delhi

  • The Pariksha Pe Charcha, programme will be aired at 7 PM on Today the 7th April, 2021 on TV channels and digital media in Hindi and other major Indian languages.


5. Justice Nuthalapati Venkata Ramana appointed as 48th Chief Justice of India (CJI)
  • The President of India, in exercise of the powers conferred by clause (2) of Article 124 of the Constitution of India, appointed Shri Justice Nuthalapati Venkata Ramana, Judge of the Supreme Court, to be the Chief Justice of India.
  • Justice Nuthalapati Venkata Ramana, will take over as the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of India on 24th April, 2021. He will be 48th Chief Justice of India.


6. India hosts First Meeting of BRICS Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors 
  • India hosted a Meeting of BRICS Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors virtually. The meeting was jointly Chaired by Union Minister for Finance & Corporate Affairs, Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman and Governor, Reserve Bank of India, Shri. Shaktikanta Das. Participants included Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors of the BRICS countries.


7. All Central Government employees aged 45 years and above are advised to get themselves vaccinated to effectively contain the spread of COVID-19
  • The Central Government has asked all its employees aged 45 years and above to get themselves vaccinated to effectively contain the spread of COVID-19.
  • As per order issued by the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, they are also advised to continue to follow COVID-appropriate behaviour even after vaccination by frequent washing of hands and sanitisation, wearing a mask or face cover and observing social distancing etc.


8. ECI hosts 2 day International Virtual Election Visitors Programme (IVEP) 2021
  • Election Commission of India hosted International Virtual Election Visitors Programme (IEVP) 2021 for Election Management Bodies (EMBs) /Organisations from 26 countries and three International Organisations during the ongoing elections for Legislative Assemblies of Assam, Kerala, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal.


9. Delhi Govt: Night curfew imposed in Delhi till April 30 in view of rising Covid-19 cases
  • Delhi government has imposed night curfew in the national capital from 10 PM to 5 AM with immediate effect till 30th April.
  • There will be no restrictions on traffic movement during night curfew.


10. Gujarat government decides to impose night curfew in 20 cities
  • Gujarat government has announced night curfew in 20 cities from today. the 10 pm to 5 am curfew will be in force till 30th of this month. 
  • The cities where night curfew will be imposed include Ahmedabad, Surat, Rajkot, Vadodara, Junagadh, Nadiad, Mehsana, Morbi, Patan, Godhra, Dahod, Bhuj and Gandhinagar.


11. Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane visits Defence Services Staff College, Wellington
  • General Manoj Mukund Naravane, Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), visited DSSC, Wellington (TN).
  • The COAS delivered a lecture on “Developments along the Western and Northern Borders and their Impact on the Future Road Map of the Indian Army” to the faculty & officers attending 76th Staff Course at the Defence Services Staff College (DSSC), Wellington.

  • The Vice President, Sh M. Venkaiah Naidu graced the colourful closing ceremony of the 25-day long commemorative Dandi Padyatra as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav near National Salt Satyagraha Memorial , Dandi, Gujarat. 
  • The function was organised by the Ministry of Culture and State government of Gujarat.


13. Veteran journalist Dr. Fatema Zakaria passes away at 85
  • Veteran journalist and Chairman of Aurangabad's prestigious educational institution Maulana Azad Campus Dr. Fatema Zakaria passed away in Aurangabad. She was 85.
  • She was conferred with Padma Shri for her excellent contribution in education and educational reforms.
