1. FM Nirmala Sitharaman attends Plenary Meeting of International Monetary and Financial Committee (IMFC) of IMF through video-conference from New Delhi 
  • Union Minister for Finance & Corporate Affairs Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman attended the Plenary Meeting of the International Monetary and Financial Committee of the Board of Governors of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) at the virtual Spring Meetings 2021.
  • The meeting was attended by Governors/Alternate Governors representing 190 member countries of the IMF.


2. Nethra Kumanan becomes first Indian woman sailor to qualify for Olympics
  • Nethra Kumanan became the first ever Indian woman sailor to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics in the laser radial event at the Mussanah Open Championship, which is an Asian Olympic qualifying event.


3. India-Netherlands Virtual Summit: PM Narendra Modi hold Virtual Summit with PM of Netherlands Mark Rutte 
  • Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will hold a Virtual Summit with the Prime Minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte on 9 April 2021.
  • During the Summit, the two leaders will discuss in detail our bilateral cooperation and look at new ways of strengthening the relationship. They will also exchange views on the regional and global issues of mutual interest.


4. PM Modi interacts with the Chief Ministers on Covid-19 situation
  • The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi interacted with the Chief Ministers of various states regarding the COVID-19 situation via video conference.
  • The Chief Ministers thanked the Prime Minister for leading the collective fight against the virus. They gave feedback about the Covid situation in their states. They said that the timely initiation of vaccination drive is resulting in saving lakhs of lives. Issues of vaccine hesitancy and vaccine wastage were also discussed.

  • In its collective and collaborative fight against the global pandemic, India has crossed a landmark milestone under the world’s largest vaccination drive, which was launched on 16th Jan this year. The cumulative number of COVID19 vaccine doses administered in the country has crossed 9 Cr yesterday.


6. India-Sri Lanka Police Chiefs’ Dialogue (PCD) held in Virtually format
  • The first delegation level virtual Police Chiefs’ Dialogue between the Police Chiefs of India and Sri Lanka was held today in an environment of positivity and trust. 
  • The Indian delegation was led by Director, Intelligence Bureau while the Sri Lankan delegation was led by Shri CD Wickramaratne, Inspector General of Police.


7. Army Chief General MM Naravane official visit to Bangladesh
  • Continuing with the excellent tradition of strong bilateral and defence ties between India and Bangladesh, Army Chief General Naravane is on a five day official visit to Bangladesh from 8-12 April.
  • Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane handed over one lac doses of the made in India Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine to his Bangladeshi counterpart General Aziz Ahmed in Dhaka on Thursday.

  • Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan rejected the claims of shortage of COVID-19 vaccines in the country.
  • He said, Central government is continously monitoring and enhancing the supplies of Covid-19 vaccines to the States and Union Territories.


9. Govt. notified Copyright (Amendment) Rules, 2021 
  • The Government of India has notified Copyright (Amendment) Rules, 2021 vide Gazette notification under reference G.S.R. 225(E) dated 30th March, 2021. In India, the copyright regime is governed by the Copyright Act, 1957 and the Copyright Rules, 2013. The Copyright Rules, 2013 were last amended in the year 2016.
  • The amendments have been introduced with the objective of bringing the existing rules in parity with other relevant legislations. It aims to ensure smooth and flawless compliance in the light of the technological advancement in digital era by adopting electronic means as primary mode of communication and working in the Copyright Office. 


10. Union Minister Jitendra Singh flags off India Russia Friendship Car Rally 2021
  • Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), Dr. Jitendra Singh today flagged off India Russia Friendship Car Rally 2021. The event organized by International Friendship Car Rally Association, IFCRA, will take place in Russia from 18th to 20th April. 
  • This is the 5th IFCRA edition and there are 14 participants from IFCRA India representing the North East.


11. Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying and Ministry of AYUSH signs MoU to introduce the concept of Ayurveda and its allied disciplines into veterinary science
  • A Memorandum of Understanding between Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying (DAHD), Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Government of India and Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India was signed on 7th April, 2021 to introduce the concept of Ayurveda and its allied disciplines into veterinary science by their promotion in research and development including research on new formulations in quality drugs for veterinary science through medicinal herbs.


12. MP govt announces weekend lockdown in all cities due to rising COVID-19 cases
  • In view of the current COVID-19 status, the Madhya Pradesh Government has announced lockdown in all cities of the state from 6 pm Friday to 6 am Monday.


13. Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh to hold bilateral meeting with Defence Minister of Kazakhstan Today
  • Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh will have a bilateral meeting with the visiting Defence Minister of Kazakhstan Lieutenant General Nurlan Yermekbayev in New Delhi today.
  • Minister of Defence of Republic of Kazakhstan Lieutenant General Nurlan Yermekbayev is on an official visit to India from April 7-10, 2021.
