HM Amit Shah launches nutritious ‘Laddu Distribution Scheme’ for pregnant women 

Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched a nutritious ‘Laddu Distribution Scheme’ for pregnant women in Gandhinagar. Around 7,000 pregnant women in Gandhinagar area will be provided 15 nutritious laddu each, free of cost, till birth of their child, through NGOs.

Pregnant women need a nutritious diet most when pregnant and a laddu contains protein, ghee, vitamins and it can be eaten throughout in a month.

Eminent Bengali writer Buddhadeb Guha passes away at 85 in Kolkata 

Eminent Bengali writer Buddhadeb Guha passed away in Kolkata. He was 85. The Bengali film 'Dictionary' is based on two of his works 'Baba Howa' and 'Swami Howa'.

Buddhadeb Guha was honored with the Anand Award in 1976, followed by the Shiroman Award and the Sharat Award, apart from several awards for his amazing work.


Kejriwal govt issues SOP for reopening of schools, colleges, other educational institutions 

The Arvind Kejriwal Government has issued Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for reopening of schools, colleges and other educational institutions in Delhi. Educational institutions in Delhi will be reopened in a phased manner from the first of next month.

According to the new Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) issued by the Delhi government, classes should be conducted at 50 percent capacity to maintain social distance.

Some important facts that the Delhi government has issued in the new Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)

  • There will be a gap of at least one hour between the two shifts in morning and evening shifts.
  • Thermal scanners will be mandatory at the entrance and masks will be mandatory for children, teachers and staff.
  • Heads of schools and institutions have been advised to regularly sanitize classrooms, common areas and entrances.


Tokyo Paralympics 2020: Avani Lekhara becomes the first Indian woman in history to win a Paralympic Gold medal in shooting  

India’s Avani Lekhara, 19-year-old para shooter, made history by winning the elusive Tokyo Paralympic Games gold. Competing in her maiden Paralympics, Avani shot 249.6 points in the R2 women’s 10m air rifle SH1 category for a Paralympic Record and equal the World Record.

Avani has won many World Cup medals since 2017 including a Silver with a Junior World Record in R2 at the WSPS World Cup 2017, bronze at the WSPS World Cup Bangkok 2017, silver in the WSPS World Cup in Osijek, Croatia 2019 and silver in the WSPS World Cup Al-Ain 2021. She won the Tokyo Paralympics quota in February 2019 in the UAE.


Tokyo Paralympics 2020: Yogesh Kathuniya wins Silver medal in men's discus throw at Paralympic Games 

Yogesh Kathuniya won the silver medal in men's discus throw F56 category by registering his best effort of 44.38m.

Yogesh Kathuniya from Haryana who took up Discus Throw back in 2017 had won the bronze medal in World Para Athletics Championship, 2019 and is the first Indian male to win a Paralympic medal in Discus Throw since Joginder Singh Bedi won the bronze medal in 1984 Paralympics.


Tokyo Paralympics 2020: Devendra Jhajharia wins Silver medal in Javelin at Paralympics Games 

Devendra Jhajharia won the Silver medal in the men's javelin throw event at Tokyo Paralympics Games 2020. Devendra Jhajharia grabbed Silver with a personal best throw of 64.35. This was also his third medal at the Paralympic Games.

Sundar Singh Gurjar won the Bronze medal in the men's Javelin Throw event at Tokyo Paralympics Games 2020. Rajasthan’s Sundar Singh Gurjar captured the bronze medal with a season-best throw of 62.58.


Tokyo Paralympics 2020: Sumit Antil wins Gold medal in Javelin throw at Paralympics Games

India's Sumit Antil set a new world record to win the gold medal in the men's javelin throw (F64) event at Tokyo Paralympics Games 2020.

Sumit Antil dominated the competition with the four best throws by any competitor, finally writing the world record at 68.55m with his fifth attempt. He took India's medal count to seven.

The 23-year-old Sumit Antil, who switched to Javelin Throw from wrestling only in 2018, made his intentions clear with an opening throw of 66.95m for a World record. He improved that to 68.08m with his second throw. His nearest rival, Australia’s Michael Burian had a best throw of 66.29m and Sri Lanka’s Dulan Kodithuwakku got bronze with a best effort of 65.61m.

The Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Anurag Singh Thakur launched the Fit India Mobile Application at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, New Delhi on National Sports Day.

The Fit India App is free and available in English & Hindi on both the Android and the iOS platforms and has been developed keeping in mind that it works even on basic smartphones.

India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage achieved another milestone crosses 64 Cr landmark; Recovery Rate currently at 97.53%

India’s vaccination coverage achieved another milestone to cross the 64 Crore landmark yesterday. With the administration of 59,62,286 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has surpassed the cumulative figure of 64.05 Cr (64,05,28,644) as per provisional reports till 7 am today. This has been achieved through 68,50,464 sessions.

The recovery of 36,275 patients in the last 24 hours has increased the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) to 3,19,59,680.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 97.53%. 30,941 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.
