Envoys of Five Nations Present Credentials to President Kovind via Video Conference    

The President of India Ram Nath Kovind, accepted credentials from Ambassadors/High Commissioners of Iceland, Republic of The Gambia, Spain, Brunei Darussalam and Democratic Republic of Sri Lanka today (September 22, 2021) in a virtual ceremony. Those who presented their credentials were:

  1. Mr. Gudni Bragason, Ambassador of Iceland
  2. Mr. Mustapha Jawara, High Commissioner of the Republic of The Gambia
  3. Mr. Jose Maria Ridao Dominguez, Ambassador of Spain
  4. Mr. Dato Alaihuddin Mohamad Taha, High Commissioner of Brunei Darussalam
  5. Mr. Asoka Milinda Moragoda, High Commissioner of Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka

President Ram Nath Kovind congratulated the envoys on their appointment and conveyed his good wishes to them for a successful tenure in India.


PM Modi embarks on 4-day official visit to US to attend UN General Assembly Session 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on a four-day visit to the United States on Wednesday. PM Modi will meet top US CEOs, hold talks with US President Joe Biden and take part in the QUAD Summit in Washington DC. It will be followed by his address to the 76th session of the UN General Assembly in New York on 25th September.

India hosted the first India-United Kingdom Consular Dialogue through video conferencing on Wednesday.

Sports Minister Anurag Thakur to kick-off 1st Himalayan Film Festival on 24th September  

Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Anurag Thakur will inaugurate the first Himalayan Film Festival on 24th September, 2021. The festival spanning five days is being held at Leh, Ladakh from 24th to 28th September 2021.

The inaugural of the festival will witness the presence of makers and cast of the super hit movie Shershah, including Director Vishnuvardhan and the lead actor Shri Siddharth Malhotra. Shershah is also the opening feature film of the festival.


Bangladeshi Fairooz Faizah Beether receives 2021 Changemaker Award  

Fairooz Faizah Beether of Bangladesh has been chosen for the 2021 Changemaker Award for her work promoting good health and well-being by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

The Award celebrates an individual who has inspired change using personal experience or from a position of leadership.


India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 82.65 Cr; Recovery Rate currently at 97.77%

With the administration of 75,57,529vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage exceeded 82.65Cr (82,65,15,754) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 97.77%. Recovery Rate is currently at its highest peak since March 2020. 26,964 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

The Weekly Positivity Rate at 2.08% remains less than 3% for the last 89 days now. The Daily Positivity rate reported to be1.69%. The daily Positivity rate has remained below3% for the last 23 days and below 5% for 106 consecutive days now.
