1. PM Modi to dedicate to the Nation 35 crop varieties with special traits
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate 35 crop varieties with special traits to the Nation on 28th September at 11 AM via video conferencing, in a pan India programme organised at all ICAR Institutes, State and Central Agricultural Universities and Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVKs).
  • During the programme, the Prime Minister will also dedicate to the nation the newly constructed campus of National Institute of Biotic Stress Tolerance Raipur.


2. DRDO successfully Maiden Flight Test of Akash Prime Missile
  • A new version of the Akash Missile – ‘Akash Prime’ has been successfully flight tested from Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur, Odisha on 27 September 2021. The missile intercepted and destroyed an unmanned aerial target mimicking enemy aircrafts, in its maiden flight test after improvements. 
  • In comparison to the existing Akash System, Akash Prime is equipped with an indigenous active Radio Frequency (RF) seeker for improved accuracy. Other improvements also ensure more reliable performance under low temperature environments at higher altitudes.


3. Indian Navy signs MoU with Royal Navy of Oman for exchange of White Shipping Information
  • Rear Admiral Saif bin Nasser bin Mohsen Al-Rahbi, Commander of Royal Navy of Oman (CRNO) and Admiral Karambir Singh, Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Indian Navy signed an MoU for exchange of White Shipping Information. 
  • The MoU was signed at Maritime Security Center (MSC), Muscat during the ongoing visit of the CNS to Oman.


4. Lt Gen Gurbirpal Singh takes over as DG NCC
  • Lieutenant General Gurbirpal Singh took over as the 34th Director General of National Cadet Corps (NCC). 
  • Lt Gen Singh was commissioned into The PARACHUTE REGIMENT in 1987. An alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla, Indian Military Academy, Dehradun as well as NCC, he attended the Defence Services Staff College in Wellington, the Higher Command Course in Mhow and the National Defence College Course in New Delhi.

  • IPL Cricket 2021 in Dubai: Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) defeated Rajasthan Royals by seven wickets at Dubai International Cricket Stadium last night.
  • Chasing the target of 165 runs, Sunrisers Hyderabad made 167 runs for the loss of three wickets with the help of 60 by Jason Roy and 51 not out by Skipper Kane Williamson.


10. India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage crosses the landmark of 87 Cr; Recovery Rate currently at 97.81%
  • With the administration of 1,02,22,525 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage crossed the landmark of 87 Cr (87,07,08,636) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.
  • Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 97.81%. Recovery Rate is currently at its highest peak since March 2020.
  • India reports daily new cases less than 20,000 after 201 days. 18,795 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.
