Exercise MALABAR 2021 Phase-II to be held in Bay of Bengal from 12-15 Oct 21     

The Multilateral Maritime Exercise MALABAR 2021 Phase-II will be held in Bay of Bengal from 12 to 15 October 2021. First Phase of the exercise was conducted in the Philippines Sea from 26 – 29 Aug 2021

US, India, Japan and Australia to participate in Naval Exercise Malabar 2021

The Indian Navy (IN) would be participating in the Second Phase of Multilateral Maritime Exercise Malabar along with the Japan Maritime Self Defence Force (JMSDF), Royal Australian Navy (RAN) and the United States Navy (USN). The exercise is being conducted in the Bay of Bengal from 12 – 15 Oct 2021.

About Exercise MALABAR 2021 Phase-II  

The Multilateral Maritime Exercise MALABAR 2021 Phase-II of the exercise would build upon the synergy, coordination and inter-operability developed during the First Phase of the exercise and would focus on advanced surface and anti-submarine warfare exercises, seamanship evolutions and weapon firings.

The 25th edition of MALABAR, being conducted in two phases, while observing all protocols during the COVID-19 pandemic, is reflective of the commitment of the participating countries to support a free, open, inclusive Indo-Pacific as well as a rules-based international order.

About Multilateral Maritime Exercise MALABAR

Naval Exercise Malabar series of maritime exercise commenced in 1992 as an IN-USN Exercise. In 2015, JMSDF joined Malabar as a permanent member. The 2020 edition witnessed participation of the Royal Australian Navy. This year marks the 25th edition of Ex Malabar, being hosted by USN in the Western Pacific.


Rampur, Uttar Pradesh, to host the next "Hunar Haat" from 16th to 25th October, 2021  

The next "Hunar Haat" will be organised in Rampur, Uttar Pradesh, from 16th to 25th October, 2021 as a part of series of 75 "Hunar Haat", going to be organised across the country under "Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav" to celebrate 75 years of India’s Independence.

Union Minister for Education and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Dharmendra Pradhan will inaugurate the 29th "HunarHaat" in Rampur on 16th October 2021.

The upcoming "Hunar Haat" will also be based on the theme of "Best from Waste". Exquisite products made from used and discarded items in households such as plastic, paper, ply, wood, glass, ceramic, jute, cotton, wool as well as banana stems, sugarcane pulp, paddy and wheat straw-stems, husk, Tur, rubber, iron, brass, etc will be available in the “Hunar Haat”.

Upcoming Hunar Haat

Union Minister for Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi informed that after Rampur, "Hunar Haat" will be organised at Dehradun (29 October to 7 November), Lucknow (12 to 21 November), Hyderabad (26 November to 5 December), Surat (10 to 19 December), New Delhi (22 December 2021 to 02 January 2022).

“Hunar Haat” will also be organised in Mysuru, Guwahati, Pune, Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Patna, Puducherry, Mumbai, Jammu, Chennai, Chandigarh, Agra, Prayagraj, Goa, Jaipur, Bengaluru, Kota, Sikkim, Srinagar, Leh, Shillong, Ranchi, Agartala and other places in the coming days.


Sports Minister Anurag Thakur launches 'Delhi Hockey Weekend League'  

Union Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports Anurag Singh Thakur launched the ‘Delhi Hockey Weekend League 2021-22' which is taking place at the iconic Major Dhyanchand National Stadium.

Key Highlights

The Hockey League, which is being organised by the Sports Authority of India (SAI) in association with the Delhi Hockey Federation, will have a total of 36 teams competing for the trophy and more teams can also participate in later stages. The event starts today and over every weekend 4 matches will be played. First match of the league was played between Delhi University's Shyam Lal College and the Faith Club ( an independent hockey club).


Indian shooting team tops ISSF Junior World Championship medal tally with 40 medals  

ISSF Junior World Championship: India ended the competition with 30 medals including 16 gold, 15 silver and nine bronze by finishing first in the Junior World Championship medal tally. Indian athletes bagged all the medals in the four events on the final day of the ISSF Junior World Championships in Lima, Peru.

USA finished second with 7 gold, 8 silver and 6 bronze. Italy, France and Germany followed the top two with a tally of 10, nine and 10 medals respectively.


India’s Cumulative COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage crosses the landmark of 94.7 Cr; Recovery Rate currently at 97.99%

With the administration of 66,85,415 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage crossed the landmark of 94 Cr (94,70,10,175) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 97.99%. Recovery Rate is currently at its highest peak since March 2020. 18,166 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours. This is the lowest recorded daily new cases in 214 days.

The Weekly Positivity Rate at 1.57% remains less than 3% for the last 107 days now. The Daily Positivity rate reported to be 1.42%. The daily Positivity rate has remained below 3% for the last 41 days and below 5% for 124 consecutive days now.
