17th edition of Indo-US Joint Military Exercise Ex Yudh Abhyas 2021 to be held in Alaska from 15 to 29 Oct 2021  

As part of the ongoing Indo-US Defence Cooperation, the 17th edition of Indo-US Joint Military Exercise Ex Yudh Abhyas 2021 will be held in Joint Base Elmendorf Richardson, Alaska (USA) from 15 to 29 October 2021.

Joint Military Training Exercise Ex Yudh Abhyas 2021: Aims

The exercise aims at enhancing understanding, cooperation and interoperability between two Armies. The joint exercise will focus on Combined Arms Manoeuvres in cold climatic conditions and is primarily aimed at sharing tactical level drills and learning best practices from each other. The exercise will culminate after a 48 hours long validation.

India, Kyrgyz agree on 200 million US Dollar Line of Credit to support development projects  

India, Kyrgyz Republic agree on 200 million US Dollar Line of Credit to support development projects. External Affairs Minister, Dr. S. Jaishankar has said that he had cordial and constructive talks with Foreign Minister Ruslan Kazakbaev of Kyrgyz Republic. In a tweet, Dr. Jaishankar said they agreed on a 200 million US Dollar Line of Credit to support development projects.


Over 2 crore Income Tax Returns filed on the e-Filing portal of the Income Tax Department  

The e-filing portal of the Income Tax Department (www.incometax.gov.in) has marked receipt of more than 2 crore Income Tax returns as on 13th October 2021. The new portal was launched on 7th June, 2021 and in the initial period taxpayers had reported glitches and difficulties in the functioning of the portal. A number of technical issues have since been resolved and the performance of the portal has substantially stabilized.

Over 13.44 crore unique taxpayers have logged in till 13th October, 2021. Approximately 54.70 lakh taxpayers have availed of ‘forgot password’ facility to obtain their passwords.

All Income Tax Returns have been made available for e-filing. More than 2 crore ITRs for AY 2021-22 have been filed on the portal, of which ITRs 1 & 4 constitute 86%. It is encouraging to note that more than 1.70 crore returns have been e-verified, out of which 1.49 crore are through Aadhaar based OTP. The process of e-verification through Aadhaar OTP and other methods is important for the Department to commence processing of the ITR and to issue refunds, if any. 


Bangladesh GDP grow at 6.5 percent in 2022: IMF  

Bangladesh GDP will grow at 6.5 percent in the year 2022, forecasts the International Monetary Fund (IMF). In its latest World Economic Outlook report released on Tuesday, the IMF predicts that Bangladesh economy will grow at 7.1 percent in the year 2026. 


Online booking of community halls of Cantonment Boards made live on eChhawani portal  

In order to extend the facility for booking community halls of Cantonment Boards online without any physical application, a ‘Community Hall Booking module’ has now been made live on the eChhawani portal for greater ease of living for Cantonment residents. The facility is being provided in a paperless, faceless and cashless environment i.e. the applicant will be able to book the community hall online, make payment in digital mode and track the status of his application.

The status of application will be communicated to the applicant at each stage through SMS & email and the confirmation of allotment will also be conveyed digitally. The release of the module on the portal will provide a transparent & hassle free environment to the Cantonment residents. 


JNPT records 40.40% growth in container traffic in first half of FY 21-22  

Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT), one of India’s premier container ports, handled 2,703,051 TEUs during the first half of this financial year, against 1,925,284 TEUs, which is 40.40% higher than the container traffic over the same period of last year.

The rail coefficient in the first half of FY2021-22 was 18.04%. The total container traffic handled in September 2021 stood at 452,108 TEUs, witnessing a growth of 18.86% over the same month of last year. NSIGT crossed the 1 lakh TEUs mark in a month by handling 1,00,814 TEUs in September-2021, the highest ever TEUs handled since its inception.


India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 96.82 Cr; Recovery Rate currently at 98.07%

With the administration of 35,66,347 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage exceeded 96.82 Cr (96,82,20,997) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.07%. Recovery Rate is currently at its highest peak since March 2020. 18,987 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

The Weekly Positivity Rate at 1.44% remains less than 3% for the last 111 days now. The Daily Positivity rate reported to be1.46%. The daily Positivity rate has remained below 3% for the last 45 days and below 5% for 128 consecutive days now.
