Indian Navy Sailing Championship 2021 to be conducted in Mumbai from 01-05 Oct 21  

Indian Navy Waterman ship Training Centre (INWTC), Mumbai is set to conduct the largest intra-Navy sailing regatta, the ‘Indian Navy Sailing Championship – 2021’ from 01 to 05 Oct 21. Yachtsmen and women from all three Commands of the Indian Navy viz., Western Naval Command, Eastern Naval Command and Southern Naval Command, will be honing and demonstrating their sailing and waterman ship skills in Mumbai harbour over the next five days.

Over 90 participants will take part in the event, competing in seven different classes of boats. The concept of Team Racing in Enterprise and Match Racing in J24 classes of boats is being reintroduced to facilitate enhanced team spirit and instill leadership qualities amongst the participants. The overall Champion for the event will be declared on completion of all races on 05 Oct 21.


Govt launches DigiSaksham- a joint initiative of Labour Ministry with Microsoft India  

Minister for Labour and Employment, Shri Bhupender Yadav today launched DigiSaksham - a digital skills programme to enhance the employability of youth by imparting digital skills that are required in an increasingly technology driven era. This joint initiative with Microsoft India is an extension of the Government’s ongoing programs to support the youth from rural and semi-urban areas.

Under the DigiSaksham initiative, there will be basically three types of training viz. Digital Skills – Self paced learning, VILT mode training (Virtual Instructor led) and ILT mode training (Instructor led). The ILT training which is in person training would be conducted at the Model Career Centres (MCCs) and National Career Service Centres (NCSC) for SCs/STs across the country.


Air Marshal Amit Dev assumes Command of Western Air Command  

Air Marshal Amit Dev AVSM VSM ADC assumed the appointment of Air Officer Commanding in Chief (AOC-in-C) of Western Air Command on 01 Oct 21.

An alumnus of National Defence Academy, the Air Marshal was commissioned in the flying branch of IAF in Dec 1982 as a Fighter pilot. A Fighter Strike Leader, the Air Officer has about 2500 hours of operational flying experience on a wide variety of fighter aircraft in the inventory of IAF.

The Air Marshal is a recipient of Ati Vishisht Seva Medal and Vishisht Seva Medal. He was appointed as the honorary Aide-de-Camp (ADC) to the Hon’ble President of India Ram Nath Kovind on 01 Aug 21.


Maj Gen Smita Devrani assumes charge as ADG, Military Nursing Service   

Major General Smita Devrani assumed charge as Additional Director General of Military Nursing Service (MNS) on October 01, 2021. The day coincided with the occasion of 96th MNS Corps Day.

An alumna of School of Nursing, Military Hospital Secunderabad, the General Officer was commissioned into the Military Nursing Service on December 28, 1983. Later, she completed her Diploma in Midwifery from the Naval Hospital INHS Asvini, Mumbai.

Major General Smita Devrani has held various administrative and staff appointments namely, Joint Director Military Nursing Service, Research Pool Officer, Director Admin at Integrated HQ of MoD (Army), Principal Matron of Command Hospital, Pune and Brig MNS of HQ Central Command. Prior to assuming the appointment of Additional DGMNS, the General Officer was Principal Matron of Army Hospital (Research & Referral), the apex quaternary health care institution of Armed Forces Medical Services.


Air Marshal BR Krishna assumes charge of CISC  

Air Marshal BR Krishna assumed charge of Chief of Integrated Defence Staff to the Chairman, Chiefs of Staff Committee (CISC) on October 01,2021. The CISC paid homage to the bravehearts at the National War Memorial, in New Delhi followed by the Tri-Service Guard of Honour.

Commissioned as a fighter pilot in 1983, Air Marshal Krishna has hade distinguished career spanning over 38 years. Qualified Flying Instructor and experimental test pilot, he has flown a wide variety of fighters, transport aircraft, and helicopters in the inventory of Indian Air Force (IAF).


GST collection crosses Rs 1 lakh crore in September 2021  

The gross GST revenue collected in the month of September 2021 is ₹ 1,17,010 crore of which CGST is ₹ 20,578 crore, SGST is ₹ 26,767 crore, IGST is ₹ 60,911 crore (including ₹ 29,555 crore collected on import of goods) and Cess is ₹ 8,754 crore (including ₹ 623 crore collected on import of goods).

The government has settled ₹ 28,812 crore to CGST and ₹ 24,140 crore to SGST from IGST as regular settlement. The total revenue of Centre and the States after regular settlements in the month of September 2021 is ₹ 49,390 crore for CGST and ₹ 50,907 crore for the SGST.

The revenues for the month of September 2021 are 23% higher than the GST revenues in the same month last year. During the month, revenues from import of goods were 30% higher and the revenues from domestic transactions (including import of services) were 20% higher than the revenues from these sources during the same month last year. The revenue for September 2020 was, in itself, at a growth of 4% over the revenue of September 2019 of ₹ 91,916 crore.


India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage crosses the landmark of 89 Cr; Recovery Rate currently at 97.86%

With the administration of 64,40,451 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage crossed the landmark of 89 Cr (89,02,08,007) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 97.86%. Recovery Rate is currently at its highest peak since March 2020. 26,727 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

The Weekly Positivity Rate at 1.70% remains less than 3% for the last 98 days now. The Daily Positivity rate reported to be 1.76%. The daily Positivity rate has remained below 3% for the last 32 days and below 5% for 115 consecutive days now.
