Central Government notifies Indian Telegraph Right of Way (Amendment) Rules, 2021    

The Central Government has notified the Indian Telegraph Right of Way (Amendment) Rules, 2021 on 21st October 2021 to incorporate the provisions related to nominal one-time compensation and uniform procedure for establishment of Overground Telegraph Line in the Indian Telegraph Right of Way Rules, 2016. The amount of one-time compensation for establishment of over ground telegraph line will be maximum one thousand rupees per kilometre. Documentation for RoW application for over ground telegraph line has been made simple. Also, there will be no fee other than Administrative fee and Restoration charges for establishing, maintaining, working, repairing, transferring or shifting the underground and over ground telegraph infrastructure.

These amendments will ease Right of Way related permission procedures for establishment and augmentation of Digital Communications Infrastructure across the country. With a robust pan India digital infrastructure, the digital divide between rural-urban and rich-poor will be bridged; e-governance and financial inclusion will be strengthened; doing business will be easy; information and communication needs of citizens and enterprises will be fulfilled; and ultimately the dream of India’s transition to a digitally empowered economy and society will be translated into reality.


Defense Ministry signs ₹423 crore contract with US to procure weapons for Indian Navy  

The Ministry of Defence has signed a contract with the US Government under Foreign Military Sale (FMS) for procurement of MK 54 Torpedo and Expendable (Chaff and Flares) for the Indian Navy at a cost of ₹ 423 Crores.

These weapons are the outfit of P-8I Aircraft which is used for Long range Maritime Surveillance, Anti-Submarine Warfare and Anti-Surface Warfare (ASV).


Govt issues notification for setting up seven PM MITRA Parks under Textile Ministry   

The Ministry of Textiles has issued the Notification for setting up of 7 PM MITRA Parks. The scheme aims to realise the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi of building an Aatmanirbhar Bharat and to position India strongly on the Global textiles map.

PM MITRA is inspired by the 5F vision of Prime Minister Modi. The '5F' Formula encompasses - Farm to fibre; fibre to factory; factory to fashion; fashion to foreign. This integrated vision will help further the growth of the textile sector in the economy.

The scheme is to develop an integrated large-scale and modern industrial infrastructure facility for the entire value-chain of the textile industry. It will reduce logistics costs and improve competitiveness of Indian Textiles. The scheme will help India in attracting investments, boosting employment generation and position itself strongly in the global textile market. These parks are envisaged to be located at sites which have inherent strength for Textile Industry to flourish and have necessary linkages to succeed.

The 7 PM Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel (PM MITRA) Parks will be set up at Greenfield / Brownfield sites located in different willing States. Proposals of State Governments having ready availability of contiguous and encumbrance-free land parcels of 1,000+ acres along with other textiles related facilities & ecosystems are welcome.


India, UK agree to strengthen climate initiatives: Union Minister Bhupender Yadav  

Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav has said that India and the UK have agreed to strengthen climate initiatives and further their green partnership.

Minister Yadav held a bilateral meeting with UK Foreign Minister Elizabeth Truss in New Delhi yesterday. The UK will host the 26th Conference of Parties (COP26) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in Glasgow from 31st of this to 12th November.


DRDO successfully flight-tests High-Speed Expendable Aerial Target (HEAT) ABHYAS  

ABHYAS - the High-speed Expendable Aerial Target (HEAT) was successfully flight-tested by Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) from the Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur off the coast of Bay of Bengal in Odisha. The vehicle can be used as an aerial target for evaluation of various missile systems. The performance of the target aircraft was monitored through telemetry and various tracking sensors including Radars and Electro Optical Tracking System (EOTS).

The current flight test is carried out as a part of developmental flight trials. Expression of interest for production of the vehicle has already been floated to Indian industries. This indigenous target aircraft, once developed, will meet the requirements of High-speed Expendable Aerial Targets (HEAT) for Indian Armed Forces.

ABHYAS is designed & developed by DRDO’s Aeronautical Development Establishment (ADE), Bengaluru. The air vehicle is launched using twin under-slung boosters which provide the initial acceleration to the vehicle. It is powered by a gas turbine engine to sustain a long endurance flight at subsonic speed. The target aircraft is equipped with MEMS based Inertial Navigation System (INS) for navigation along with the Flight Control Computer (FCC) for guidance and control. The vehicle is programmed for fully autonomous flight. The check-out of air vehicles is done using laptop-based Ground Control Station (GCS).


Minister of State Devusinh Chauhan chairs 7th Meeting of BRICS Communications Ministers  

India as the current BRICS Chair convened the 7th Meeting of BRICS Communications Ministers on 22nd October, 2021. Minister of State for Communications Devusinh Chauhan, chaired the 7th meeting of BRICS Communications Ministers through video conferencing on 22 October, 2021.

Ministers adopted the Terms of References of Digital BRICS Task Force and supported the advancement in work of the BRICS Partnership on New Industrial Revolution (PartNIR) across several Working Groups meeting in 2021.

Ministers adopted the proposal to host the Digital BRICS Forum annually to facilitate sharing of information and knowledge, practices, initiatives etc. on agreed cooperation areas.


Admiral Sir Tony Radakin Chief of Naval Staff, Royal Navy official visit to India from 22-24 Oct 21  

Admiral Sir Tony Radakin, First Sea Lord and Chief of Naval Staff, Royal Navy is on a three day official visit to India from 22-24 Oct 21. Adm Radakin interacted with Adm Karambir Singh, Chief of the Naval Staff on 22 Oct 21.

Sharing a modern partnership bound by strong ties, the bilateral relationship between India and UK was upgraded to a ‘Strategic Partnership’ in 2004 and further strengthened through reciprocal visits by the Prime Ministers. Subsequently, during the Virtual Summit between the Prime Ministers of both the countries on 04 May 21, ‘Roadmap 2030’ was adopted towards elevating the bilateral ties to a ‘Comprehensive Strategic Partnership’.


HM Amit Shah to arrive in Srinagar today on 3-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir  

Home Minister Amit Shah will arrive in Srinagar this morning on a three-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir. HM Amit Shah is scheduled to review the security situation at the Integrated Command meeting in Srinagar today. HM Amit Shah will also flag off the Srinagar-Sharjah direct flight this evening.


India hands over Jaynagar-Kurtha cross-border rail link to Nepal govt  

NepalIndia handed over the 34.9 km long cross-border rail link connecting Jayanagar in Bihar to Kurtha in Nepal to the Nepal government.

The Jaynagar - Kurtha section is part of the 68.7 km Jaynagar - Bijalpura- Bardidas rail link built under the Government of India's grant assistance programme. Under the grant assistance of India, the gauge conversion of 34.9 km narrow gauge, from Jaynagar in India to Kurtha in Nepal, has now been completed.


Poland recognizes COVISHIELD vaccine manufactured by Serum Institute of India 

Poland has joined the growing group of nations to recognize India's Serum Institute-manufactured Covishield vaccine.

In a tweet, the Polish embassy in India said, Poland now recognizes Covishield as a vaccine equivalent to those recognized by the EU. This means that fully vaccinated individuals who took the Covishield vaccine are exempt from quarantine after entering the territory of Poland.


India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 101.30 Cr; Recovery Rate currently at 98.16%

With the administration of 68,48,417 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has surpassed 100 Cr mark to reach 101.30 Cr (1,01,30,28,411) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.

The recovery of 17,677 patients in the last 24 hours has increased the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) to 3,35,32,126.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.16%. Recovery Rate is currently at its highest peak since March 2020. 16,326 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

The Active Caseload remains below the 2 lakh mark and is presently at 1,73,728 which is lowest in 233 days. Active cases presently constitute 0.51% of the country's total Positive Cases, which is lowest since March 2020.

The Weekly Positivity Rate at 1.24% remains less than 2% for the last 29 days now. The Daily Positivity rate reported to be 1.20%. The daily Positivity rate has remained below 2% for the last 19 days and below 3% for 54 consecutive days now.
