Air Marshal Sandeep Singh assumes charge as the Vice Chief of the Air Staff    

Air Marshal Sandeep Singh AVSM VM took over as Vice Chief of the Air Staff (VCAS) on 01 Oct 21. An alumnus of National Defence Academy, the Air Marshal was commissioned in the flying branch of IAF in Dec 1983 as a Fighter pilot.

The Air Officer is an Experimental Test Pilot and a Qualified Flying Instructor. He has rich and diverse experience in operational and experimental test flying on various types of fighter aircraft and has flown about 4400 hours.

India and US to set-up joint working group in defence industrial security  

The Industrial Security Agreement (ISA) summit between India and the United States was held between September 27 to October 01, 2021 at New Delhi. The summit was organised to develop protocol for the exchange of classified information between the defence industries of both the nations.

The Summit was led by Designated Security Authorities (DSAs) namely Anurag Bajpai and Mr David Paul Bagnati from Indian and US sides respectively.


UIDAI plans to open 166 stand-alone Aadhaar Enrolment & Update Centres in 122 cities across country  

Unique Identification Authority of India(UIDAI) has opened 55 Aadhaaar Seva Kendras (ASK) as part of its plan to open 166 stand-alone Aadhaar Enrolment & Update Centres in 122 cities across the country. These are in addition to about 52,000 Aadhaar enrolment centers run by Banks, Post Offices and State Governments.

These Aadhaaar Seva Kendras (ASKs) which are open on all days of the week, have so far catered to over 70 Lakh residents including Divyang persons.

These centers have a capacity to handle up to 1,000 enrolments and update requests per day for Model-A ASKs, up to 500 enrolments and update requests per day for Model B ASKs and up to 250 enrolments and update requests per day for Model C ASKs. These ASKs are operational from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. They are closed only on public holidays. While Aadhaar Enrolment is free, a nominal charge of Rs. 50 is payable for Demographic Updates and Rs.100/- for Biometric Updates with or without Demographic updates.


Sports Minister Anurag Thakur launches nationwide Clean India Programme from Prayagraj  

Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Anurag Thakur participated in cleanliness drive on the launch of nationwide Clean India programme from Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh. The programme is being organised in 6 Lakh villages of 744 Districts across the country through the networks of Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) affiliated Youth Clubs & National Service Scheme affiliated Institutions.

Month-long Clean India Programme will be launched from Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh by the Minister of Youth Affairs and Sport Anurag Thkaur.

The aim is to create awareness, mobilize people and ensure their involvement in Cleaning waste mainly Single Use Plastic waste throughout the country, the Secretary explained.She further added that through this mega initiative, 75 Lakh kg waste mainly plastic waste will be collected and disposed with the support and voluntary participation of citizen.

At the 37th Executive Committee meeting of the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG), chaired by Rajiv Ranjan Mishra, Director General, NMCG, Chacha Chaudhary was declared as the mascot of the Namami Gange Programme and some major projects in Uttar-Pradesh and Bihar were discussed and evaluated.


HM Amit Shah to flag off 7,500 kilometers Car rally by NSG today  

Home Minister Amit Shah will flag off the All India Car Rally of the National Security Guard – Sudarshan Bharat Parikrama from the historic Red Fort in Delhi today under the ongoing Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.

NSG’s car rally will pass through 18 cities in 12 states of the nation and will visit historic places like Kakori Memorial in Lucknow, Bharat Mata Mandir in Varanasi, Netaji Bhawan Barrackpore in Kolkata, Swaraj Ashram in Bhubaneswar, Tilak Ghat in Chennai, Freedom Park in Bengaluru, August Kranti Maidan in Mumbai and Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad.


India, AIIB sign USD 356.67 million loan agreement for expansion of the Chennai Metro Rail System  

The Government of India and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) signed a USD 356.67 million loan agreement for expansion of the Chennai Metro Rail System. The project involves the construction of a new corridor in Chennai’s metro network as part of Chennai Metro Rail Phase 2.

It will span from Lighthouse in the east to Poonamallee Bypass in the west to ensure seamless multimodal transport across Chennai by providing integrated access to suburban rail, bus stations and the city’s main airport. In addition, the project will address traffic bottlenecks and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by increasing public urban transport options.


India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 89.74 Cr; Recovery Rate currently at 97.86%

With the administration of 69,33,838 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage exceeded 89.74Cr (89,74,81,554) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 97.86%. Recovery Rate is currently at its highest peak since March 2020. 24,354new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

The Weekly Positivity Rate at 1.68% remains less than 3% for the last 99 days now. The Daily Positivity rate reported to be 1.70%. The daily Positivity rate has remained below 3% for the last 33 days and below 5% for 116 consecutive days now.
