PM Modi to launch Indian Space Association on 11th October     

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will launch Indian Space Association (ISpA) on 11th October, 2021 at 11 AM via video conferencing. 

About Indian Space Association (ISpA)

ISpA is the Premier Industry Association of Space and Satellite companies, which aspires to be the collective voice of the Indian Space industry. It will undertake policy advocacy and engage with all stakeholders in the Indian Space domain, including the Government and its agencies. Echoing the Prime Minister’s vision of Atma Nirbhar Bharat, ISpA will help in making India self-reliant, technologically advanced and a leading player in the space arena.

ISpA is represented by leading home grown and global corporations with advanced capabilities in space and satellite technologies. India-US Defence Policy Group Meeting in Washington DC  

Defence Secretary of India Dr Ajay Kumar and the US Under Secretary of Defense for Policy, Dr Colin Kahl co-chaired the 16th meeting of the India-US Defence Policy Group (DPG) on 08 October 2021 in Washington DC. The DPG is the apex official-level mechanism between the Ministry of Defence of India and the US Department of Defense to comprehensively review and guide all aspects of bilateral defence cooperation.

The two sides reviewed the progress in operationalising India-US Major Defence Partnership, mil-to-mil engagements, implementation of foundational defence agreements, defence exercises, strengthening technology cooperation and defence trade. Both sides shared regional security perspectives and cooperation, and to work together to promote shared interests in the Indo Pacific region.

The co-chairs were apprised of the progress made by various bilateral defense initiatives and mechanisms. They took stock of the joint project to co-develop air-launched unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) under the Defence Technology and Trade Initiative.


List of MoUs/Agreements exchanged during Official Visit of Prime Minister of Denmark to India  

Prime Minister of Denmark Ms. Mette Frederiksen arrived in New Delhi on a three day official visit to India on 9 October 2021. India and Denmark exchanged 4 MoUs/Agreements and 3 commercial agreements have also been announced. 

List of MoUs/Agreements exchanged between India and  Denmark 

  1. MoU between Council of Scientific & Industrial Research- National Geophysical Research Institute, Hyderabad, Aarhus University, Denmark and Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland on mapping of ground water resources and aquifers.
  2. Traditional Knowledge Digital Library Access Agreement between Council of Scientific & Industrial Research and Danish Patent and Trademark Office.
  3. MoU between Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru and Danfoss Industries Private Limited to establish a Centre of Excellence towards natural refrigerants for tropical climates with potential applications.
  4. Joint Letter of Intent between Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Government of the Republic of India and The Government of the Kingdom of Denmark

Apart from the above, the following 3 commercial agreements have also been announced: 

  1. MoU between Reliance Industries Limited and Stiesdal Fuel Technologies on the development of the Hydrogen Electrolyzer and the subsequent manufacturing and deployment of the Hydrogen Electrolyzer in India.
  2. MoU between Infosys Technologies and Aarhus University to establish a‘Center of Excellence for Sustainability Solutions’ based in Denmark.
  3. MoU between the ‘Observer Research Foundation’ and ‘State of Green’ on strategic cooperation to promote knowledge-sharing on solutions and facilitate research on the green transition of the economy.


Indian Army Celebrates 72nd Territorial Army Day on 09 Oct 2021  

The Territorial Army celebrated its 72nd Raising Day on 09 Oct 2021. The Territorial Army in its current form came into being when the Territorial Army Act was enacted on Aug 18, 1948. 

Initially, the Territorial Army consisted of Infantry, Armoured Corps, Air Defence Artillery, Signals, Supply and other departmental units. It was formally raised by the first Governor General C Rajagopalachari on 09 Oct 1949, which has since been celebrated as Territorial Army Day.


3rd India – UK Energy for Growth Partnership – Ministerial Energy Dialogue  

The 3rd India – UK Energy for Growth Partnership – Ministerial Energy Dialogue was co-chaired by Union Minister for Power and New & Renewable Energy R.K. Singh from the Indian side and the Rt Hon Kwasi Kwarteng MP, Secretary of State for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) from the UK side. The dialogue was held last evening virtually.

The UK side presented a detailed summary of the significant ongoing work and the past work done in the last two years under the umbrella of bilateral cooperation which was appreciated and endorsed by both sides. 

The dignitaries welcomed the Roadmap 2030 for India-UK future relations launched by both the Prime Ministers during India-UK Virtual Summit on 4th May 2021 and identified various future areas of collaboration in line with the Roadmap 2030.


India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage nearly 94 Cr; Recovery Rate currently at 97.98%

With the administration of 79,12,202vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage nearly reaches 94Cr (93,99,15,323) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 97.98%. Recovery Rate is currently at its highest peak since March 2020. 19,740 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

The Weekly Positivity Rate at 1.62% remains less than 3% for the last 106 days now. The Daily Positivity rate reported to be 1.56%. The daily Positivity rate has remained below 3% for the last 40 days and below 5% for 123 consecutive days now.
