1. PM Narendra Modi launches Gati Shakti- National Master Plan for infrastructure development
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Gati Shakti – National Master Plan for Multi-modal Connvectivity in New Delhi, heralding a new chapter in governance. Gati Shakti — a digital platform — will bring 16 Ministries including Railways and Roadways together for integrated planning and coordinated implementation of infrastructure connectivity projects.

4. Government accords “Maharatna” status to Power Finance Corporation Ltd (PFC)
  • Govt. of India accorded ‘Maharatna’ status to the state-owned Power Finance Corporation Ltd (PFC), thus giving PFC greater operational and financial autonomy. An order to this effect was issued today by the Department of Public Enterprises, under the Ministry of Finance. 


5. NHAI signs MoU with TIDCO for Development of Multi-Modal Logistics Park (MMLP) in Chennai Port's land
  • Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbanand Sonowal has announced the formation of a Special Purpose vehicle (SPV) for development of a Multimodal Logistics Park (MMLP) at VOC Port in Chennai. 
  • The MMLP to be developed through Public Private Partnership with the SPV providing land and connectivity and the actual MMLP infrastructure to be developed by a private developer.


6. NITI Aayog – UNDP Launch Handbook on Sustainable Management of Plastic Waste for Urban local bodies (ULBs)
  • NITI Aayog and UNDP India launched a handbook to promote sustainable management of plastic waste in the country.
  • The report, titled ‘NITI Aayog-UNDP Handbook on Sustainable Urban Plastic Waste Management’, was released on 11th October, 2021 by NITI Aayog Vice Chairperson Dr Rajiv Kumar, CEO Shri Amitabh Kant, Shri. Rameshwar Prasad Gupta, Secretary Ministry of Environment Forest and Climate Change, Special Secretary Dr K. RajeswaraRao, and Ms. Shoko Noda, Resident Representative, UNDP India.


7. India Post launches e-PLI bond/ digital version of PLI policy bonds on Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav occasion
  • Department of Posts, Ministry of Communications, launched the digital version of the Postal Life Insurance policy bonds, also termed as “ePLI bond”, on the occasion of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav in an event in New Delhi.
  • ePLI bond is made available in collaboration with DIGILOCKER, National eGovernance Division (NeGD), Ministry of Electronics & IT (MeitY) Government of India.


8. India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 96.43 Cr; Recovery Rate currently at 98.06%
  • With the administration of 50,63,845 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage exceeded 96.43 Cr (96,43,79,212) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.
  • Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.06%. Recovery Rate is currently at its highest peak since March 2020. 15,823 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.
