1. Central Government notifies Indian Telegraph Right of Way (Amendment) Rules, 2021
  • The Central Government has notified the Indian Telegraph Right of Way (Amendment) Rules, 2021 on 21st October 2021 to incorporate the provisions related to nominal one-time compensation and uniform procedure for establishment of Overground Telegraph Line in the Indian Telegraph Right of Way Rules, 2016.
  • The amount of one-time compensation for establishment of over ground telegraph line will be maximum one thousand rupees per kilometer.


2. Defense Ministry signs ₹423 crore contract with US to procure weapons for Indian Navy
  • The Ministry of Defence has signed a contract on 21 October 2021 with the US Government under Foreign Military Sale (FMS) for procurement of MK 54 Torpedo and Expendable (Chaff and Flares) for the Indian Navy at a cost of ₹ 423 Crores. 
  • These weapons are the outfit of P-8I Aircraft which is used for Long range Maritime Surveillance, Anti-Submarine Warfare and Anti-Surface Warfare (ASV).


3. Textile Ministry issues notification for setting up seven PM MITRA Parks
  • The Ministry of Textiles has issued the Notification for setting up of 7 PM MITRA Parks. The scheme aims to realise the vision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi of building an Aatmanirbhar Bharat and to position India strongly on the Global textiles map.
  • PM MITRA is inspired by the 5F vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister. The '5F' Formula encompasses - Farm to fibre; fibre to factory; factory to fashion; fashion to foreign. This integrated vision will help further the growth of the textile sector in the economy.


4. India, UK agree to strengthen climate initiatives: Union Minister Bhupender Yadav
  • Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav has said that India and the UK have agreed to strengthen climate initiatives and further their green partnership.
  • Mr Yadav held a bilateral meeting with UK Foreign Minister Elizabeth Truss in New Delhi yesterday.


5. DRDO successfully flight-tests High-Speed Expendable Aerial Target (HEAT) ABHYAS
  • ABHYAS - the High-speed Expendable Aerial Target (HEAT) was successfully flight-tested by Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) from the Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur off the coast of Bay of Bengal in Odisha. 
  • The vehicle can be used as an aerial target for evaluation of various missile systems. The performance of the target aircraft was monitored through telemetry and various tracking sensors including Radars and Electro Optical Tracking System (EOTS).

9. India hands over Jaynagar-Kurtha cross-border rail link to Nepal govt
  • NepalIndia handed over the 34.9 km long cross-border rail link connecting Jayanagar in Bihar to Kurtha in Nepal to the Nepal government.
  • The Jaynagar - Kurtha section is part of the 68.7 km Jaynagar - Bijalpura- Bardidas rail link built under the Government of India's grant assistance programme.


10. Poland recognizes COVISHIELD vaccine manufactured by Serum Institute of India
  • Poland has joined the growing group of nations to recognize India's Serum Institute-manufactured Covishield vaccine.
  • In a tweet, the Polish embassy in India said, Poland now recognizes Covishield as a vaccine equivalent to those recognized by the EU.


11. India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 101.30 Cr; Recovery Rate currently at 98.16%
  • With the administration of 68,48,417 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has surpassed 100 Cr mark to reach 101.30 Cr (1,01,30,28,411) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.
  • Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.16%. Recovery Rate is currently at its highest peak since March 2020. 16,326 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.
