1. President Ram Nath Kovind on a three-day official visit to Karnataka today
  • The President of India Ram Nath Kovind will visit Karnataka from October 6 to 8, 2021.
  • On October 7, 2021, the President will inaugurate the newly built Teaching Hospital of the Chamarajanagar Institute of Medical Sciences at Chamarajanagar.


2. 5th edition of India – Japan Maritime Bilateral Exercise, JIMEX to be held in Arabian Sea from 6 to 8 Oct 2021
  • The fifth edition of India – Japan Maritime Bilateral Exercise, JIMEX, between the Indian Navy (IN) and the Japan Maritime Self-Defence Force (JMSDF), will be held in Arabian Sea from 06 to 08 October 2021. 
  • JIMEX series of exercises commenced in January 2012 with special focus on maritime security cooperation. The last edition of JIMEX was conducted in September 2020.


3. Business Summit on National Mission on Edible Oils-Oil Palm in NE states held in Guwahati
  • National Mission on Edible Oil- Oil Palm Business Summit for North Eastern States was held at Guwahati.
  • The conference began under the chairmanship of the Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar with the watering of the oil palm plant and showcasing of a film on oil palm plantation.


4. 8th edition of India – Sri Lanka joint Exercise Mitra Shakti commences at ampara Sri Lanka
  • The 8th edition of India-Sri Lanka bilateral joint exercise Mitra Shakti commenced today at the Combat Training School, Ampara in Sri Lanka. The two week long exercise is being conducted from 04 to 15 October 2021.

  • Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare released UNICEF’s global flagship publication – “The State of the World’s Children 2021; On My Mind: promoting, protecting and caring for children’s mental health”, in New Delhi. 
  • The report details the significant impact of COVID-19 pandemic on children’s mental health.


6. Health Ministry launches ‘Mental Health Awareness Campaign Week’
  • The Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare is observing Mental Health Awareness Campaign Week beginning from yesterday and culminating on the World Mental health Day. 
  • 10th October is observed globally as the World Mental Health Day to raise awareness on mental health issues and mobilize efforts to support mental health.

  • Noted Cartoonist Yesudasan passed away in Kochi, Kerala. He was 83. Yesudasan was under treatment for Covid 19. Yesudasan entered the world of political cartoons through Janyugom Malayalam daily.


8. Vice President Venkaiah Naidu on a day-long visit to Agartala today
  • Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu will be in Agartala today on a one day visit to the state. During his visit, M Venkaiah Naidu is scheduled to launch the Agartala Smart City Project and will interact with SHG achievers, Healthcare workers, and Primary sector achievers.


9. India win two bronze medals in Table Tennis at Asian Championship in Doha
  • India created history by winning two more bronze medals in Table Tennis at the Asian Championships in Doha, Qatar.
  • For the first bronze medal of the day, the men's doubles pair of Harmeet Desai and Manav Thakkar went down fighting to South Korean pair of Woojin Jang and Jonghoon Lim by 2-3 in the semis.


10. India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage crosses the landmark of 92 Cr; Recovery Rate currently at 97.94%
  • With the administration of 59,48,360 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage crossed the landmark of 92Cr(92,17,65,405) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.
  • Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 97.94%. Recovery Rate is currently at its highest peak since March 2020. 18,833 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.
