32nd edition of India-Thailand Coordinated Patrol (CORPAT) 2021 

The 32nd edition of India-Thailand Coordinated Patrol (Indo-Thai CORPAT) between the Indian Navy and the Royal Thai Navy is being conducted from 12 – 14 November 2021.

Participate by

Indian Naval Ship (INS) Karmuk, an indigenously built Missile Corvette and His Majesty’s Thailand Ship (HTMS) Tayanchon, a Khamrosin Class Anti-submarine Patrol Craft, along with Maritime Patrol Aircraft from both navies are participating in the CORPAT.

Aims

Towards reinforcing maritime links between the two countries and with an aim of keeping this vital part of the Indian Ocean safe and secure for international trade, the two navies have been undertaking CORPAT bi-annually since 2005 along their International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL). 

CORPAT builds up understanding and interoperability between navies and facilitates institution of measures to prevent and suppress unlawful activities like Illegal Unreported Unregulated (IUU) fishing, drug trafficking, maritime terrorism, armed robbery and piracy. It further helps enhance the operational synergy by exchange of information for prevention of smuggling, illegal immigration and for conduct of search and rescue (SAR) operations at sea.


RBI projects CPI inflation at 5.3% for 2021-22 

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has projected the CPI inflation at 5.3 per cent for 2021-22. India’s retail inflation rate, measured by the Consumer Price Index or CPI, rose mildly in October to 4.48% year-on-year from 4.35% in September due to an uptick in food prices.

The inflation was 7.61% in October last year. For the fourth month in a row, CPI has been below the Reserve Bank of India’s six percent margin.


HM Amit Shah to chair 29th Meeting of Southern Zonal Council at Tirupati on 14th Nov, 2021  

Home Minister Amit Shah will chair the 29th meeting of the Southern Zonal Council comprising of the States of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Telangana, and Union Territories of Puducherry, Lakshadweep, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, scheduled to be held at Tirupati on the 14th November 2021.

The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy is the Vice Chairman and host. Other Chief Ministers from the States in the Zone along with 2 Ministers each are the Members. Chief Secretaries and senior officers from the State Governments and the Central Government will also attend the meeting.

The Zonal Councils take up issues involving Centre and States and one or many States falling in the Zone. The Zonal Councils, thus, provide a forum for resolving disputes and irritants between Centre and States and among many States in the Zone. The Zonal Councils discuss a broad range of issues which include boundary related disputes, security, infrastructure related matters like road, transport, industries, water, and power etc., matters pertaining to forests & environment, housing, education, food security, tourism and transport etc.


Rohit Sharma named India's T20 captain for upcoming series against New Zealand 

India's ODI vice-captain Rohit Sharma has been officially announced as Team India's T20 International captain, replacing Virat Kohli. Kohli had earlier announced his decision to step down as India's captain in the shortest format following the conclusion of ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2021.


Ministry of Culture launches All-India dance competition ‘Vande Bharatam-Nritya Utsav’ as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav 

The Ministry of Culture will hold a ‘Vande Bharatam- Nritya Utsav’, an All-India dance competition as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. The objective of this competition is to select dancers who will perform during the cultural programme at the Republic Day Parade of 2022. The final performance will take place on January 26, 2022 at Rajpath, India Gate.

Vande Bharatam group dance competition will start from 17th November 2021 at district level. Competition will be held at District, State, Zone and Inter-Zone/National Levels and final National Level competition will be organised on 19th December 2021 in Talkatora Stadium New Delhi. Participants can perform in four categories Classical, Folk, Tribal and Fusion/Contemporary. 480 dancers will be eventually selected as winners from the National level. These 480 dancers will perform during the cultural performance at the Republic Day Parade.


Partial Lunar eclipse Visible in India on 19 Nov 2021  

A partial eclipse of the Moon will occur on 19 November, 2021 (28 Kartika, 1943 Saka Era).From India, just after moonrise, the end of the partial phase of the eclipse will be visible for a very short span of time from extreme north eastern parts of Arunachal Pradesh and Assam.

According to IMD sources, the Eclipse will be visible in the region covering western Africa, western Europe, North America, South America, Asia, Australia, the Atlantic Ocean and the Pacific Ocean.

The partial phase of the eclipse will begin at 12h 48m IST. The partial phase will end at 16h 17 m IST. The next lunar eclipse will be visible from India on 8 November, 2022. It will be a total lunar eclipse.

52nd IFFI to be held in Goa from 20th -28th November 2021  

The 52nd edition of the International Film Festival of India will be held in Goa from 20th to 28th of November. An award named as ‘Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in Cinema’ is instituted from this year. Eminent film directors Martin Scorsese and Istvan Szabo will be honoured with the Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement Award at IFFI.


Ministry of Culture launches Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav mobile app 

Ministry of Culture launched the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav mobile App to enable all single point access to all information related to the 75th anniversary celebrations of India’s independence. The app available in android and iOS has details of all the activities and events happening under the AKAM banner. It is a free for download app with no age restrictions.

Sections like ‘What's New’ and ‘Weekly Highlights’ allow the users to stay connected to all current Amrit Mahotsav celebrations and event details across India and the world.

The Home page enables users to a get an overview of the interesting and wide-ranging content inside the app. These include among others links to sections such Digital District Repository and Unsung Heroes which are part of an overall section titled History Corner.

India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 111.40 Cr; Recovery Rate currently at 98.26%

With the administration of 58,42,530 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 111.40 Cr (1,11,40,48,134) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.

The recovery of 12,403 patients in the last 24 hours has increased the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) to 3,38,26,483.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.26%. 11,850 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

The Active Caseload is presently at 1,36,308 is lowest in 274 days. Active cases presently constitute 0.40% of the country's total Positive Cases, which is lowest since March 2020.

The Weekly Positivity Rate at 1.05% remains less than 2% for the last 50 days now. The Daily Positivity rate reported to be 0.94%. The daily Positivity rate has remained below 2% for the last 40 days and below 3% for 75 consecutive days now.
