6th edition of INDO FRANCE Joint Military Exercise “Ex Shakti 2021” culminates in France   

6th Edition of biennial Indo - France military exercise “Ex SHAKTI- 2021” culminated on 25 November 2021 after twelve days of intense joint military training, exhibiting their combat power and dominance over the extremist groups in simulated Counter Insurgency / Counter Terrorism environment. The  exercise “Ex SHAKTI- 2021” provided opportunity to both the contingents to train in Counter Terrorism operations in joint environment under United Nations charter.

Key Highlights

The exercise was conducted in two phases involving combat conditioning and tactical training of Counter Terrorism operations culminating with validation of training in semi urban environment. Both the contingents shared their best operational practices and experiences. The troops of both the Armies developed bonhomie by not only involving in tactical exercises but also rubbing shoulders in sports and cultural activities.

Both the contingents expressed immense satisfaction on the outcome of the exercise, in terms of the standards achieved during the conduct. The exercise proved to be another remarkable milestone towards the pledge of terrorism free world. The exercise has certainly added another dimension to ever enhancing military diplomacy between both the participating countries.


Reserve Bank of India (RBI) imposes 1 crore penalty on State Bank of India (SBI)  

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has imposed a monetary penalty of Rs 1 crore on the country’s largest lender, State Bank of India, for holding shares in borrower companies of an amount exceeding 30 per cent of the paid-up share capital of those companies.

Background  

The Statutory Inspections for Supervisory Evaluation (ISE) of the bank was conducted by RBI with reference to its financial positions as on March 31, 2018 and March 31, 2019 and the examination of the Risk Assessment Reports, Inspection Report and all related correspondence pertaining to the same, revealed, inter-alia, contravention of sub-section (2) of section 19 of the Act to the extent the bank held shares in borrower companies, as pledgee, of an amount exceeding thirty per cent of paid-up share capital of those companies. In furtherance to the same, a notice was issued to the bank advising it to show cause as to why penalty should not be imposed on it for contravention of the aforesaid provisions of the Act, as stated therein.

After considering the bank’s reply to the notice, oral submissions made during the personal hearing, and additional submissions made by the bank, RBI came to the conclusion that the charge of contravention of the aforesaid provisions of the Act was substantiated and warranted imposition of monetary penalty on the bank, to the extent of contravention of the aforesaid provisions of the Act.


Bhubaneswar host FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup 2021  

Odisha capital Bhubaneswar is all set to host the FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup 2021 from 24th November to 5th December 2021.

There are four teams each in each of the four pools to prove their prowess in hockey- the sports that is so dear to Odisha and India at large. While in Pool 'A', European heavyweights Belgium will face off against Malaysia, Chile and South Africa, defending champion India is placed in Group 'B', along with Canada, France, and Poland, who all arrived in Bhubaneswar to battle it out for the title

Similarly, while the Netherlands, Spain, Korea and USA will lock horns in Pool 'C', Pool 'D' will see Germany, Pakistan, Egypt and Argentina face off against one another. While Belgium will play against South Africa in the first game of the FIH Odisha Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup in the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar tomorrow, India will begin their campaign the same day, against France.


Alexander Zverev beats Daniil Medvedev to clinches his second ATP Finals title  

Germany's Alexander Zverev clinched his second Nitto ATP Finals title after beating World No.2 Russia's Daniil Medvedev 6-4, 6-4 in the finals. Alexander Zverev defeated World No.1, Novak Djokovic, in the semi-finals.


Hardeep S. Puri inaugurates Driverless Train Operations in Pink Line of the Delhi Metro  

Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep S. Puri virtually inaugurated the Unattended Train Operations (UTO) on the Pink Line of the Delhi Metro. A massive driverless network of 96.7 kilometers, the Delhi Metro has now become the fourth largest network in the world to operate with driverless technology.

About Driverless Train Operations (DTO)

Driverless Train Operations (DTO) has been launched on the 59 kilometre long Pink Line (Majlis Park to Shiv Vihar) of Delhi Metro. With this, the Delhi Metro’s fully automated network will grow to about 97 kilometres, which is 4th largest in the world and the only DTO network in India. The DTO facility was launched on the Magenta Line in 2020 with which the Delhi Metro had entered the elite league of world’s 7% Metros in the world which operate fully automated metro networks.

The Driverless Train Operation will bring more flexibility in train operations, reduce human interventions and human errors. It will also help in improving the availability of coaches for service. The Driverless Trains will eliminate the manual process of checking done before induction, subsequently reducing burden on train operators. The parking on the stabling line in depots will also be done automatically.

The DMRC has already started reaping benefits of driverless operations on its Magenta Line in terms of increased availability of coaches for service. Reliability of the trains has increased manifold due to exhaustive self-tests done before induction in service everyday automatically, eliminating all possibilities of human error. The benefits will further increase with a longer network under driverless train operation.


Ministry of Tourism is organising three-day International Tourism Mart (ITM) at Kohima, Nagaland  

The Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, is organising the annual event, “International Tourism Mart” (ITM) at Kohima, Nagaland from 27 November to 29 November 2021 with the objective of highlighting the tourism potential of the region in the domestic and international markets.

This edition of the Mart will put the spotlight on “Domestic Tourism”. Besides deliberations on the promotion of tourism in the North East Region in general, the Mart will also give a platform for promoting cultural ties, providing enhanced connectivity to the States of North Eastern Region with other parts of the country.

The three-day event will be attended by over 300 delegates including government officials, industry stakeholders and local participants. The event is also going to be attended by the High Commissioner, Brunei Darussalam, High Commissioner, Malaysia, Ambassador Extra Ordinary, Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Ambassador, The Socialist Republic of Vietnam, amongst others attending dignitaries and diplomats. Other high-ranking officials from participating Ministries/Government bodies are also going to be part of the event.


PM Modi to share his thoughts in 'Mann Ki Baat' programme on Nov 28  

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will share his thoughts with the people in the country and abroad in the 'Mann Ki Baat' programme on All India Radio on 28th November 2021. It will be the 83rd episode of the monthly radio programme.

PM Modi has invited people to share their ideas for this month's episode. In a tweet, Mr Modi said he wants to hear from people on possible themes and topics for this month’s 'Mann Ki Baat'. He urged people to share insights on MyGov, the NaMo App or record their message.

PM Modi participate in Constitution Day celebrations: 26th November   

The nation celebrate Constitution Day on Today (26 November) to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India by the Constituent Assembly in 1949. The observation of Constitution Day started in 2015, based on the vision of the Prime Minister to give due recognition to the significance of this historic date.

As a part of Constitution Day celebrations this year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi participate in the programmes being organised in Parliament and Vigyan Bhawan on 26th November, 2021.

The programme organized in Parliament held in the Central Hall of Parliament. Addressed by the Hon’ble President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Lok Sabha Speaker OM Birla. After the speech of the Hon’ble President, the nation join him Live, in reading the Preamble of the Constitution. India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 120.27 Cr; Recovery Rate currently at 98.33%

With the administration of 83,88,824 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 120.27 Cr (1,20,27,03,659) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.

The recovery of 9,868 patients in the last 24 hours has increased the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) to 3,39,77,830.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.33% which is the highest since March 2020. 10,549 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

The Active Caseload presently stands at 1,10,133.Active cases presently constitute 0.32% of the country's total Positive Cases, which is lowest since March 2020.

The Weekly Positivity Rate at 0.89% remains less than 1% for the last 12 days now. The Daily Positivity rate reported to be 0.89%. The Daily Positivity rate has remained below 2% for the last 53 days and below 3% for 88 consecutive days now.
