Prime Minister Modi meets Italian PM Mario Draghi on the margins of G20 Summit in Rome    

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met the Prime Minister of Italy Mario Draghi in Italy on 29 October 2021, on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Rome. This was their first in person meeting. Prime Minister Modi congratulated Prime Minister Draghi for successfully hosting the G20 in the midst of a global pandemic. Italy is also partnering with the UK in organizing COP-26 in Glasgow.

The two leaders discussed the challenges posed by climate change, and the need for the international community to work together.

The two leaders reiterated their commitment to further expanding trade and investment linkages between the two countries particularly in textiles, food processing, automotive and renewable energy sectors. To provide fresh impetus to the bilateral cooperation in renewables and clean energy, India and Italy issued a Joint Statement announcing a Strategic Partnership on Energy Transition and agreed to explore partnerships in areas such as large size green corridor projects, smart grids, energy storage solutions, gas transportation, integrated waste management (waste-to-wealth), development and deployment of green hydrogen and promotion of bio-fuels. India and Italy also signed a Statement of Intent on Textiles cooperation during the meeting.


India International Trade Fair (IITF) to be held in Pragati Maidan from 14th Nov 2021  

One of the most awaited business events in the South-Asia region, the India International Trade Fair (IITF) is back again at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi from November 14 to 27, 2021. The fair held annually, which witnesses record footfall, was not held last year due to the COVID19 outbreak.

The theme of the fair is ‘AatmaNirbhar Bharat’ (Self-Reliant India) – the vision of ‘New India’.

Bihar is the ‘Partner State’ whereas Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand are the “Focus States” in the fair. Over 2000 exhibitors from India and overseas are expected to participate with the display of a large range of products and services.


15th India-Israel Joint Working Group meeting held in Tel Aviv  

India-Israel Joint Working Group (JWG) on Bilateral Defence Cooperation has agreed to form a Task Force to formulate a comprehensive Ten-Year Roadmap to identify new areas of cooperation.

This was decided at the 15th JWG meeting held on October 27, 2021 in Tel Aviv, Israel.

The meeting was co-chaired by Defence Secretary Dr Ajay Kumar and the Director General of the Israel’s Ministry of Defence, Maj Gen (Retd) Amir Eshel. The JWG is the apex body between the Ministry of Defence of India and Israel’s Ministry of Defence to comprehensively review and guide all aspects of Bilateral Defence Cooperation.


DRDO & IAF jointly flight test Long-Range Bomb successfully 

Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Indian Air Force (IAF) team jointly flight tested indigenously developed Long-Range Bomb (LRB) successfully from an aerial platform.

The LR Bomb, after release from the IAF fighter aircraft, guided to a land-based target at a long range with accuracy within specified limits. All the mission objectives were successfully met. The flight of the bomb and the performance was monitored by a number of range sensors including Electro Optical Tracking System (EOTS), Telemetry and radar deployed by the Integrated Test Range, Chandipur in Odisha.

The LR Bomb has been designed and developed by Research Centre Imarat (RCI), a DRDO laboratory located at Hyderabad in coordination with other DRDO laboratories.

Raksha Mantri, Rajnath Singh has congratulated DRDO, IAF and other teams associated with successful flight trials and stated that this will prove to be a force multiplier for the Indian Armed Forces.


‘Ganga Utsav 2021 – The River Festival’ To Be Celebrated From 1st to 3rd Nov 

National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) celebrates Ganga Utsav every year to mark the anniversary of the announcement of River Ganga as the ‘National River’ i.e. 4th November. This year’s Ganga Utsav is being organised from 1st to 3rdNovember, 2021. 

This year, the aim will be to take Ganga Utsav 2021 to the various river basins in India and promote the celebration of ‘Nadi Utsav’ (River Festival) which was highlighted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the occasion of the World River Day on 26th September 2021, in order to connect with the traditions which are associated with rivers for centuries in our country.


India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 104.82 Cr; Recovery Rate currently at 98.19%

With the administration of 74,33,392 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 104.82 Cr (1,04,82,00,966) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.

The recovery of 13,198 patients in the last 24 hours has increased the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) to 3,36,27,632.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.19%. 14,348 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

The Active Caseload is presently at 1,61,334.Active cases presently constitute 0.47% of the country's total Positive Cases, which is lowest since March 2020.

The Weekly Positivity Rate at 1.18% remains less than 2% for the last 35 days now. The Daily Positivity rate reported to be1.12%. The daily Positivity rate has remained below 2% for last 25 days and below 3% for 60 consecutive days now.
