Closing Ceremony: 17th Edition of Indo-US joint exercise “Ex Yudh Abhyas 2021”     

The 17th Edition of Indo-US joint exercise “Ex Yudh Abhyas 2021”, the joint military training between Indian and the US Armies concluded at Joint Base Elmendorf Richardson, Alaska on 29 October 2021.

Aims

The aim of this 14 day exercise was to familiarise each other with operational procedures, combat drills and developing inter-operability. The Indian contingent comprised 350 personnel of an Infantry Battallion group of the MADRAS Regiment while the US contingent consisted of 300 soldiers of the First Squadron (Airborne) of the 40th Cavalry Regiment.

Key Highlights

The exercise was conducted in two phases. The first phase comprised combat conditioning and tactical training by both the contingents. Training received by both contingents in the first phase was put into practice in the validation stage. Both contingents jointly took part in the validation exercise which comprised combat shooting, rappelling and helicopter based mobilisation of quick response teams. The troops were organised into composite companies with mixed platoons of Indian and US Armies and the validation exercise culminated in a raid on an enemy position in mountainous terrain and securing of critical infrastructure.

HM Amit Shah launches the "Dairy Sahakar" scheme  

Amit Shah, Union Minister of Home Affairs and Cooporation launched the "Dairy Sahakar '' scheme at Anand, Gujarat.

The Dairy Sahakar with a total investment of Rs 5000 crore will be implemented by NCDC under the Ministry of Cooperation, Government of India to realize the vision, “from cooperation to prosperity". 

Under Dairy Sahakar, financial support will be extended by NCDC to eligible cooperatives for activities such as bovine development, milk procurement, processing, quality assurance, value addition, branding, packaging, marketing, transportation and storage of milk and milk products, exports of dairy products within the overall objectives of "Doubling the farmers income" and "Atmanirbhar Bharat. 

There will also be a convergence with various schemes of Government of India and / or of State
Government/UT Administration/ Development agencies/ bilateral/multilateral assistance/ CSR mechanism is encouraged.


ECI announces bypolls for 2 Rajya Sabha seats  

The Election Commission today announced by-polls for two seats of Rajya Sabha, one seat each in West Bengal and Kerala. The notification for the bye-polls will be issued on 9th November and polling will be held on 29th of next month.


Bilateral Meeting between PM Modi and President of France Macron on the sidelines of the G20 Leaders Summit 2021  

Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a bilateral meeting with the President of France Emmanuel Macron on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Rome, Italy on 30 October 2021.

The two leaders expressed satisfaction at the state of the wide-ranging India-France Strategic Partnership. The two leaders discussed the forthcoming COP26 and the need to focus on issues of climate finance. Prime Minister also invited President Macron to visit India at the earliest opportunity.


Prime Minister Modi’s Meeting with the Prime Minister of Singapore on the sidelines of the G-20 Summit in Rome  

Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a bilateral meeting with the Prime Minister of Singapore Lee Hsien Loong on the sidelines of the G-20 Summit in Rome, Italy on 30 October 2021.

This was their first in-person meeting in the post-pandemic period. Both leaders discussed global efforts to combat climate change and the forthcoming COP26. They also discussed ongoing efforts to contain the Covid-19 pandemic through expedited vaccination efforts and ensuring supply of critical medicines.


India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 106.14 Cr; Recovery Rate currently at 98.20%

With the administration of 68,04,806 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 106.14 Cr (1,06,14,40,335) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.

The recovery of 14,667 patients in the last 24 hours has increased the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) to 3,36,55,842.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.20%. 12,830 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

The Active Caseload is presently at 1,59,272 is lowest in 247 days. Active cases presently constitute 0.46% of the country's total Positive Cases, which is lowest since March 2020.

The Weekly Positivity Rate at 1.18% remains less than 2% for the last 37 days now. The Daily Positivity rate reported to be 1.13%. The daily Positivity rate has remained below 2% for the last 27 days and below 3% for 62 consecutive days now.
