2nd edition of India - Japan Space Dialogue 2021    

The 2nd edition of India-Japan Space Dialogue was held in virtual mode on 2 November 2021. The Indian delegation was co-led by Joint Secretary, Disarmament and International Security Affairs, Ministry of External Affairs and Scientific Secretary, ISRO, while the

Japanese delegation was co-led by Deputy Assistant Minister, Foreign Policy Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs /Ambassador (Policy Planning & International Security Policy) and Director General, National Space Policy Secretariat, Cabinet Office.

The two sides exchanged information on their respective space policies and priorities, international developments in space domain including space security, space situational awareness, global navigation satellite systems, and bilateral cooperation between ISRO-JAXA, space industries and technology trade.


Bangladesh and AIIB sign USD 250 million loan agreement for COVID-19 recovery programme 

The government of Bangladesh signed an agreement with the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) for a loan of USD 250 million. The loan is being provided to help Bangladesh to implement a sustainable economic recovery programme from the impact of COVID 19.

The loan agreement was signed by Fatima Yasmin, Secretary, Economic Relations Division, govt of Bangladesh and DJ Pandian, Vice President, Investment operations Region 1 on behalf of the AIIB.


DRDO & Indian Air Force successfully flight tests indigenously developed Smart Anti-Airfield Weapon  

Two flight tests of indigenously-developed smart anti-airfield weapons have been carried out jointly by Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) and Indian Air Force (IAF). The two different configurations based on satellite navigation and electro optical sensors have been successfully tested.

Electro optical seeker based flight test of this class of bomb has been conducted for the first time in the country. The electro optic sensor has been developed indigenously. The weapon was launched by an IAF aircraft from Chandan ranges at Jaisalmer, Rajasthan on October 28, 2021 and November 03, 2021.

Smart anti airfield weapon has been designed and developed by Research Centre Imarat (RCI) in coordination with other DRDO Laboratories and extensive support from IAF. Quality and design certification agencies have contributed significantly in its development and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), Bengaluru has carried out weapon integration with the aircraft.


PM Modi holds review meeting with districts having low vaccination coverage  

Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a review meeting with districts having low vaccination coverage. The meeting included districts with less than 50% coverage of the first dose and low coverage of the second dose of Covid vaccine.

The Prime Minister interacted with District Magistrates of over 40 districts in Jharkhand, Manipur, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, Meghalaya, and other States with districts having low vaccination coverage.


Govt announces Excise Duty reduction on Petrol and Diesel on the eve of Diwali

The Government of India has taken a significant decision of reducing Central Excise Duty on Petrol & Diesel by Rs. 5 and Rs. 10 respectively from tomorrow. Prices of petrol & diesel will thus come down accordingly.

States are also urged to commensurately reduce VAT on Petrol and diesel to give relief to consumers.


India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 107.63 Cr; Recovery Rate currently at 98.23%

With the administration of 30,90,920 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 107.63 Cr (1,07,63,14,440) as per provisional reports till 7 am today. 

The recovery of 15,054 patients in the last 24 hours has increased the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) to 3,37,12,794. 

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.23%. 12,885 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.  

The Active Caseload is presently at 1,48,579 is lowest in 253 days. Active cases presently constitute 0.43% of the country's total Positive Cases, which is lowest since March 2020.  

The Weekly Positivity Rate at 1.17% remains less than 2% for the last 41 days now. The Daily Positivity rate reported to be1.21%. The daily Positivity rate has remained below2% for last 31 days and below 3% for 66 consecutive days now.
