Commissioned into the Indian Navy on 01 Jul 1987, Admiral Swaminathan is a specialist in Communication and Electronic Warfare and an alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Khadakvasla; the Joint Services Command and Staff College, Shrivenham, United Kingdom; the College of Naval Warfare, Karanja; and the United States Naval War College, NewPort, Rhode Island, USA.

Admiral Swaminathan’s educational qualifications include a BSc degree from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi; MSc in Telecommunication from the Cochin University of Science and Technology, Kochi; MA in Defence Studies from King’s College, London; MPhil in Strategic Studies from the Mumbai University; and a PhD in International Studies, also from the Mumbai University.


PM Modi to lays foundation stone of highway projects in Maharashtra on 8th November  

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone for four laning of five sections of Shri Sant Dnyaneshawar Maharaj Palkhi Marg (NH-965) and three sections of Shri Sant Tukaram Maharaj Palkhi Marg (NH-965G), on 8th November, 2021 via video conferencing. Dedicated walkways for ‘Palkhi’ will be constructed on either side of these National Highways, providing hassle free and safe passage to devotees.

About 221 km of Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Palkhi Marg from Diveghat to Mohol and about 130 Km of Sant Tukaram Maharaj Palkhi Marg from Patas to Tondale – Bondale, will be four laned with dedicated walkways for ‘Palkhi’ on either side, at estimated costs of more than Rs. 6690 crore and about Rs. 4400 crore respectively.

During the event, Prime Minister will also dedicate to the nation more than 223 Km of completed and upgraded road projects, constructed with an estimated cost of over Rs. 1180 crore at different National Highways for boosting connectivity to Pandharpur. These projects include Mhaswad - Piliv - Pandharpur (NH 548E), Kurduwadi - Pandharpur (NH 965C), Pandharpur - Sangola (NH 965C), Tembhurni-Pandharpur section of NH 561A and Pandharpur - Mangalwedha - Umadi section of NH 561A.


Minister Rajkumar Ranjan Singh to be on a two-day official visit to New York from November 8 

Minister of State for External Affairs Dr. Rajkumar Ranjan Singh will pay a two-day official visit to New York from November 8, 2021.

During the visit, Dr Singh will attend a High-Level Open Debate of the UN Security Council on ‘Exclusion, Inequality and Conflict’ under the agenda item of ‘Maintenance of International Peace and Security to be convened by the Mexican Presidency of the UNSC on 9th November 2021. The event will be chaired by the President of Mexico.

On 7th November 2021, the Vice President will address the second convocation of Dr Rajendra Prasad Central Agriculture University on the premises of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Horticulture and Forestry College at Piprakothi in Motihari in East Champaran district of the state.


India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 108.21 Cr; Recovery Rate at 98.24%

With the administration of 28,40,174 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 108.21 Cr (1,08,21,66,365) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.

The recovery of 12,432 patients in the last 24 hours has increased the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) to 3,37,49,900.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.24% which is the highest since March 2020. 10,853 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

The Active Caseload is presently at 1,44,845 which is lowest in 260 days. Active cases presently constitute 0.42% of the country's total Positive Cases, which is lowest since March 2020.

The Weekly Positivity Rate at 1.28% remains less than 2% for the last 44 days now. The Daily Positivity rate reported to be 1.18%. The daily Positivity rate has remained below 2% for the last 34 days and below 3% for 69 consecutive days now.
