US imposes massive human rights sanctions on China, Myanmar and North Korea  

The United States on Friday imposed extensive human rights-related sanctions on dozens of people and entities tied to China, Myanmar, North Korea and Bangladesh, and added Chinese artificial intelligence company.

Key Highlights

Canada and the United Kingdom joined the United States in imposing sanctions related to human rights abuse in Myanmar, while Washington also imposed the first new sanctions on North Korea under President Joe Biden's administration and targeted Myanmar military entities, among others, in action marking Human Rights Day.

President Ram Nath Kovind to review passing out parade at IMA in Dehradun

Free WI-FI Service available at over 6,000 railway stations 

Free Wi-Fi services have been provided at 6071 Railway Stations across India so far. These are available to the general public free of cost for the first half an hour of any day and on a chargeable basis, subsequently.

Provision of Wi-Fi at Railway stations facilitates Railway passengers in accessing the internet while at the stations. Wi-Fi at Railway stations is helping the public to avail online services/information, thereby contributing towards the Digital India initiative of the Government. The total data usage on these stations is of the order of 97.25 Terabytes per month approx.

India's Jeremy Lalrinnunga wins gold medal at Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships in Tashkent  

India’s teenager Jeremy Lalrinnunga won the gold medal in the men’s 67kg category at the Commonwealth Championships, in Tashkent.

The 2018 Youth Olympics gold medallist has lifted the total weight of 305kg with 141kg in Snatch and 164kg in Clean and Jerk. His personal best total is 306kg with 140kg in Snatch and 166kg in Clean and Jerk which came in 2019.


Shooter Divyansh Singh Panwar wins both Senior and Junior air rifle National titles in Bhopal  

In the 64th National shooting championship held in Bhopal, former world number one Divyansh Singh Panwar won both the senior and junior air rifle gold medals. Divyansh beat Maharashtra's Rudrankksh Patil by 0.7 points to clinch the gold.

Divyansh also won the junior gold after beating Rudrankksh once again, with a better margin of one point. He shot 252.2 in the junior final as Rudrankksh settled for silver with 251.2.


India's S Bidyarani Devi wins Silver at Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships in Tashkent  

India’s S Bidyarani Devi won silver at the women's 55kg category at the ongoing Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships at Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

Devi lifted a total of 198kg (84114) to finish second behind Nigeria's Adijat Olarinoye who had an effort of 203kg (90113) in the Commonwealth Championships.


India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage nearly 132 Cr; Recovery Rate currently at 98.36%

With the administration of 76,36,569 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 131.99 Cr (1,31,99,92,482) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.

The recovery of 9,265 patients in the last 24 hours has increased the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) to 3,41,14,331.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.36%, highest since March 2020. 7,992 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

India’s Active Caseload is presently at 93,277 is lowest in 559 days. Active cases constitute 0.27% of the country's total Positive Cases, which is lowest since March 2020.

The Weekly Positivity Rate at 0.71% remains less than 1% for the last 27 days now. The Daily Positivity rate reported to be 0.64%. The daily Positivity rate has remained below 2% for the last 68 days and below 3% for 103 consecutive days now.
