2nd edition of ‘Animal Husbandry Startup Grand Challenge’   

The Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, in partnership with Startup India, launched the second edition of ‘Animal Husbandry Startup Grand Challenge’ at an event celebrating ‘National Milk Day’ in Anand, Gujarat to commemorate the birth centenary of Dr. Varghese Kurien.

The first edition of the startup grand challenge was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on 12th September, 2019. Animal Husbandry Startup Grand Challenge 2.0 has been launched by Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Parshottam Rupala with the aim is to scout for innovative and commercially viable solutions to address six problems faced by the animal husbandry and dairy sector.


Bharat Petroleum collaborates with Bhabha Atomic Research Centre for Green Hydrogen production    

Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), a ‘Maharatna’ and a Fortune Global 500 Company has collaborated with Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) to scale-up Alkaline Electrolyser technology for Green Hydrogen production. Presently, Electrolyser Plants are imported. This is a first of its kind initiative to support the country's commitment to achieve renewable energy targets and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Key Highlights

Bharat Petroleum has plans to expand its portfolio of renewable energy with solar, wind and biofuels thereby reaffirming its commitment towards sustainability and reduction of carbon footprint. Furthermore, the Company intends to meet power requirements for new projects in its Refineries, primarily from renewable sources.


India’s Foreign Trade: November 2021;Overall exports rise by 22.8%  

India’s overall exports (Merchandise and Services combined) in November 2021* are estimated to be USD 50.36 Billion, exhibiting a positive growth of 22.80 per cent over the same period last year and a positive growth of 15.53 per cent over November 2019. 

Overall imports in November 2021* are estimated to be USD 64.75 Billion, exhibiting a positive growth of 48.54 per cent over the same period last year and a positive growth of 30.90 per cent over November 2019.


US Fashion Brand “Patagonia” Chooses Khadi Denim for its Apparels  

US-based world’s leading fashion brand, Patagonia, is now using handcrafted Khadi Denim fabric for making Denim apparels. Patagonia, through textile major Arvind Mills, has purchased nearly 30,000 meters of Khadi Denim Fabric worth Rs 1.08 crore from Gujarat.

The purchase of Khadi Denim by Patagonia has created additional 1.80 lakh man hours, i.e. 27,720 man days of work for Khadi artisans. The order was placed in October 2020 and the same was executed in 12 months’ time as per the schedule, i.e. in October 2021.


India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 133.88 Cr; Recovery Rate currently at 98.37%

With the administration of 66,98,601vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 133.88 Cr (1,33,88,12,577) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.

The recovery of 7,995 patients in the last 24 hours has increased the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) to 3,41,38,763.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.37%,highest since March 2020. 5,784 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours. This is the lowest in 571 days.

India’s Active Caseload presently at 88,993 is lowest in 563 days. Active cases constitute 0.26% of the country's total Positive Cases, which is lowest since March 2020.

The Weekly Positivity Rate at 0.68% remains less than 1% for the last 30 days now. The Daily Positivity rate reported to be 0.58%. The daily Positivity rate has remained below 2% for the last 71 days and below 3% for 106 consecutive days now.
