DRDO successfully test-fires advance version of nuclear capable Agni P missile 

Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully tested the new generation nuclear capable ballistic missile ‘Agni P from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam island off the coast of Odisha on December 18, 2021. 3rd India-Central Asia Dialogue held in New Delhi  

Foreign Ministers of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan will attend the 3rd India-Central Asia Dialogue in New Delhi today.

Kazakhstan Foreign Minister Mukhtar Tileuberdi, Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov arrived in New Delhi yesterday to attend the 3rd India-Central Asia Dialogue.

President Ram Nath Kovind is on a four-day visit to Kerala from 21 December

India records highest ever annual FDI inflow of $81.97 billion in FY 2021  

India has registered the highest ever annual Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) inflow of $81.97 billion in the financial year 2020-21. According to the government, the top five countries from where FDI Equity Inflows were received during 2014 to 2021 are Singapore, Mauritius, USA, Netherlands and Japan.

Computer software and hardware sector attracted the largest share of FDI inflows in India, followed by services, trade and telecommunications.


National Cadet Corps sign MoU with Highways Authority of India to reuse plastic waste  

The National Cadet Corps (NCC) and National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to reuse plastic wastes collected by NCC Cadets during Puneet Sagar Abhiyan and other Swachhta activities for construction of roads by NHAI throughout the country.

The aim of the Campaign is to propagate the message of ‘Importance of clean seashores/beaches’ amongst the local population and future generations. A total of 3,40,000 cadets from 127 Coastal Area NCC Units are participating in the month-long activity. So far, the NCC cadets at different locations have collected plastic wastes amounting to almost six tonnes from these areas. 

The plastic waste collected is planned to be handed over to NHAI which they can use in road construction.


Russian President Putin confirms participation in 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing 

Russian President Vladimir Putin has confirmed that Russia will participate in the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. Earlier, the US, UK, Australia and Canada have announced that their high-level officials will not attend the 2022 Beijing Winter Games in February.

India to host Women's U-18, U-19 SAFF Championships in 2022 

India will host Women's Under-18 and Under-19 SAFF championships in 2022. While the SAFF Under-18 Women's Championship will be held from March 3 to 14, the SAFF Under-19 Championship will be held from July 25 to August 3. This was announced by All India Football Federation.


India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 137.46 Cr; Recovery Rate currently at 98.38%

With the administration of 76,54,466 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 137.46 Cr (1,37,46,13,252) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.

The recovery of 7,469 patients in the last 24 hours has increased the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) to 3,41,78,940.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.38%, highest since March 2020. 7,081 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

India’s Active Caseload is presently at 83,913. This is lowest in 570 days. Active cases constitute 0.24% of the country's total Positive Cases, which is lowest since March 2020.

The Weekly Positivity Rate at 0.61% remains less than 1% for the last 35 days now. The Daily Positivity rate reported to be 0.58%. The daily Positivity rate has remained below 2% for the last 76 days and below 3% for 111 consecutive days now.
