Admiral R Hari Kumar assumes charge as 25th Chief of the Indian Naval Staff   

Admiral R Hari Kumar, PVSM, AVSM, VSM, ADC assumed command of the Indian Navy on 30 November 2021 as the 25th Chief of the Naval Staff. He succeeds Admiral Karambir Singh, PVSM, AVSM, ADC who retires upon superannuation, after an illustrious career, spanning over forty one years, in the Indian Navy.

About as Admiral R Hari Kumar 

Admiral R Hari Kumar is an alumnus of the prestigious National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla. He was commissioned into the Indian Navy on 01 January 1983. In his career spanning over 38 years, he has commanded Coast Guard Ship C-01, IN Ships Nishank, Kora, Ranvir and the Aircraft Carrier INS Viraat. A Gunnery specialist, he has held several key appointments, including Fleet Operations Officer and Fleet Gunnery Officer of Western Fleet, Executive Officer (EXO) of INS Vipul, Gunnery Officer (GO) of INS Ranjit, commissioning GO of INS Kuthar and commissioning crew of INS Ranvir.

Vice Admiral MA Hampiholi assumes charge of Southern Naval Command (SNC)  

Vice Admiral MA Hampiholi, AVSM, NM took over the reins of the Southern Naval Command (SNC) as its 29th Flag Officer Commanding- in-Chief on 30 Nov 21. The Admiral MA Hampiholi replaced Vice Admiral Anil Kumar Chawla, PVSM, AVSM, NM, VSM, ADC who retired after close to four decades of yeoman service.

Vice Admiral MA Hampiholi was the Commandant of the Indian Naval Academy, Kannur, Kerala prior to taking over this appointment. The Flag Officer, a native of Dharwad, Karnataka arrived in Kochi on 29 Nov 21 for taking over the new assignment.


Vice Admiral Ajendra Bahadur Singh takes over as Flag Officer Commanding-In-Chief, Western Naval Command  

Vice Admiral Ajendra Bahadur Singh, AVSM, VSM took over as the Flag Officer Commanding–in-Chief (FOC-in-C), Western Naval Command (WNC) from Vice Admiral R Hari Kumar, PVSM, AVSM, VSM, ADC at an impressive Ceremonial Parade held at INS Shikra.

About as Vice Admiral Ajendra Bahadur Singh  

Prior to taking over as the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the WNC, Vice Admiral AB Singh served as the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Eastern Naval Command. He is among the very few Commanders-in- Chief who have been bestowed with the unparalleled honour and unique distinction of heading both operational commands of the Indian Navy.

Commissioned into the Navy on 01 July 1983, Vice Admiral AB Singh is a specialist in Navigation and Direction. An alumnus of UP Sainik School, Lucknow and the National Defence Academy, Khadakvasla, he received his first Master’s degree from Madras University during the Staff Course at Defence Services Staff College, Wellington wherein he was also awarded the Scudder Medal. He also earned a Master’s Degree in Global Security from Cranfield University, United Kingdom in 2005.

A recipient of the Ati Vishist Seva Medal and Vishist Seva Medal, Vice Admiral Ajendra Bahadur Singh has held several key operational, staff and training appointments in his naval career.


Lt Gen Manoj Kumar Mago takes over as 34th NDC Commandant 

Lieutenant General Manoj Kumar Mago took over as the 34th Commandant of National Defence College (NDC), New Delhi from Air Marshal D Choudhury who superannuated on November 30, 2021.

Lt Gen Manoj Kumar Mago is an alumnus of Indian Military Academy, Dehradun. He was commissioned into the elite 7th Battalion Brigade of the GUARDS on December 15, 1984 and later commanded 16 GUARDS.

Lt Gen Manoj Kumar Mago has been awarded Yudh Seva Medal and Sena Medal (Twice) for his distinguished services. The General Officer has distinguished himself on two United Nations peacekeeping assignments in Somalia (UNOSOM-Il) and as Force Chief of Staff in Congo (MONUSCO) where he was awarded the Force Commander (MONUSCO) Commendation.

Prior to taking over as the Commandant NDC, Lt Gen Manoj Kumar Mago was commanding the prestigious 10 Corps.


PM Modi to inaugurate InFinity Forum on 3rd December 2021 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate InFinity Forum, a thought leadership Forum on FinTech, on 3rd December, 2021 via video conferencing.

The event is being hosted by International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA), under the aegis of Government of India in collaboration with GIFT City and Bloomberg on December 3 and 4, 2021. Indonesia, South Africa and the U.K. are partner countries in the first edition of the Forum.

Agenda & Themes 

The agenda of the Forum will focus on the theme of 'Beyond'; with various sub themes including FinTech beyond boundaries, with governments and businesses focussing beyond the geographical boundaries in the development of global stack to promote financial inclusiveness; FinTech beyond Finance, by having convergence with emerging areas such as SpaceTech, GreenTech and AgriTech to drive sustainable development; and FinTech Beyond Next, with focus on how Quantum Computing could impact the nature of Fintech industry in the future and promote new opportunities.

About International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA)

The International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA), headquartered at GIFT City, Gandhinagar Gujarat, has been established under the International Financial Services Centres Authority Act, 2019. It works as a unified authority for the development and regulation of financial products, financial services and financial institutions in the International Financial Services Centre (IFSC) in India. At present, the GIFT IFSC is the maiden international financial services centre in India.


IREDA and BVFCL sign MoU for Green Energy collaborations  

Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Ltd. (IREDA) signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer Corporation Limited (BVFCL) for providing its techno-financial expertise in developing Renewable Energy projects and fundraising. The two companies are PSUs under Ministry of New & Renewable Energy and Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers respectively.

Under the MoU, IREDA will undertake Techno-Financial due diligence of Renewable energy, Green Hydrogen, Green Ammonia, Energy Efficiency & conservation projects for BVFCL. IREDA will assist BVFCL in developing an action plan to create and acquire Renewable Energy projects for the next 5 years.


Renowned Telugu film lyricist Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry passes away at 66  

Renowned Telugu film lyricist Padma Shri awardee 'Sirivennela' Sitarama Sastry passed away due to lung cancer-related complications. He was 66.

Born on 20 May 1955, 'Sirivennela' Sitarama Sastry was a poet and lyricist. He has received eleven State Nandi Awards and four Filmfare Awards for his work in the South. He has written songs for more than 3000 films.


India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 124.10 Cr: Recovery Rate currently at 98.36%

With the administration of 80,98,716vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 124.10 Cr (1,24,10,86,850) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.

The recovery of 10,207patients in the last 24 hours has increased the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) to 3,40,28,506.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.36%. 8,954 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

India’s Active Caseload is less than a lakh after 547 days; presently stands at 99,023. Active cases constitute 0.29% of the country's total Positive Cases, which is lowest since March 2020.

The Weekly Positivity Rate at 0.84% remains less than 1% for the last 17 days now. The Daily Positivity rate reported to be 0.81%. The daily Positivity rate has remained below 2% for the last 58 days and below 3% for 93 consecutive days now.
