India, ADB sign USD 150 million loan to provide affordable housing for urban poor in Tamil Nadu   

The Government of India and Asian Development Bank (ADB) on 7th December 2021 signed a $150 million loan Agreement to provide access to inclusive, resilient, and sustainable housing for the urban poor in the state of Tamil Nadu.

India, ADB sign $350 million loan agreement for sustainable urban services in India 

The Government of India and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) signed a $350 million policy-based loan agreement to improve access to urban services in India by accelerating policy actions and reforms to enhance service delivery and promote performance-based central fiscal transfers to urban local bodies (ULBs).


Rear Admiral Sanjay Bhalla takes over as Eastern Fleet Commander  

Rear Admiral Sanjay Bhalla took over the Command of the Eastern Fleet, the Sword Arm of the Eastern Naval Command, from Rear Admiral Tarun Sobti, VSM on 20 December 21.

About Rear Admiral Sanjay Bhalla 

Rear Admiral Sanjay Bhalla was commissioned into the Indian Navy on 01 Jan 1989 and is a specialist in Communication and Electronic Warfare. The Flag Officer is an alumnus of the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington; College of Naval Warfare, Mumbai and Royal College of Defence Studies, London.

During his illustrious career spanning 33 years, he served onboard several capital ships as Signal Communication Officer. His sea commands include those of missile vessel INS Nishank, anti-submarine warfare frigate INS Taragiri and guided-missile frigate INS Beas.

About Rear Admiral Atul Anand

Rear Admiral Anand was commissioned on 01 Jan 1988 into the Executive branch of the Indian Navy. He is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Khadakvasla, the Defence Services Command and Staff College, Mirpur (Bangladesh), and the National Defence College, New Delhi. 

Rear Admiral Anand has also attended the prestigious Advance Security Cooperation Course at the Asia Pacific Centre for Security Studies, Hawaii, USA. His educational qualifications include an M. Phil and MSc in Defence and Strategic Studies, Masters in Defence Studies and a BSc degree.


Prasar Bharati signs MoU with ICCR to promote Indian Culture 

Prasar Bharati and Indian Council for Cultural Relations signed a Memorandum of Understanding today for promoting Indian culture.

The performances of the eminent artists associated with the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) will be telecast on the national and International Channels of Doordarshan. Nitin Gadkari lays foundation stone and inaugurates 232 km of National Highways in Uttar Pradesh  

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari today laid Foundation stone and Inaugurated 232 km of National Highways at a cost of Rs.4160 Crore in Jaunpur and Mirzapur in Uttar Pradesh in presence of Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath.
  • In Jaunpur Gadkari laid foundation stone for 3 national highway projects which will cover 86 kms with a total cost of Rs 1,123 crore.
  • In Mirzapur Gadkari inaugurated Four National highways projects worth Rs 3037 crore with a total length of 146 kms.


India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 138.35 Cr; Recovery Rate currently at 98.40%

With the administration of 64,56,911 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 138.35 Cr (1,38,34,78,181) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.

The recovery of 8,043 patients in the last 24 hours has increased the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) to 3,41,95,060.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.40%,highest since March 2020. 5,326 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours. This is the lowest in 581 days.

India’s Active Caseload presently at 79,097 is lowest in 574 days. Active cases constitute 0.23% of the country's total Positive Cases, which is lowest since March 2020.

The Weekly Positivity Rate at 0.59% remains less than 1% for the last 37 days now. The Daily Positivity rate reported to be 0.53%. The daily Positivity rate has remained below 2% for the last 78 days and below 3% for 113 consecutive days now.
