PM Modi inaugurates completed section of Kanpur Metro Rail Project  

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Kanpur today and inaugurated the completed section of Kanpur Metro Rail Project. During the programme, the Prime Minister also inaugurated the Bina-Panki Multiproduct Pipeline Project.

The completed section of the Kanpur Metro Rail Project is 9 Km long section from IIT Kanpur to Moti Jheel. The Prime Minister will inspect the Kanpur Metro Rail Project and undertake a metro ride. India to chair counter terrorism committee of UNSC in Jan 2022 

India will chair the Counter-Terrorism Committee of UNSC in January 2022 after 10 years. The Counter-Terrorism Committee was established by Security Council resolution 1373 adopted unanimously on 28 September 2001 in the wake of the 9/11 terror attacks in the US.

The committee was tasked with overseeing the implementation of Resolution 1373, which urged countries to implement a number of measures aimed at enhancing their legal and institutional capacity to combat terrorist activities both domestically and around the world.


RBI imposes 1 lakh penalty on Dattatraya Maharaj Kalambe Jaoli Sahakari Bank Mumbai  

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has imposed a monetary penalty of ₹1 lakh (Rupees One lakh only) on Dattatraya Maharaj Kalambe Jaoli Sahakari Bank Ltd., Mumbai (the bank) for contravention of/non-compliance with the directions issued by RBI on Exposure Norms and Statutory / Other Restrictions – UCBs.

Background

The inspection report of the bank based on its financial position as on March 31, 2020, revealed, inter alia, that the bank had not adhered to Ceiling on Advances to Nominal Members in certain cases. Based on the same, a Notice was issued to the bank advising it to show cause as to why penalty should not be imposed for non-compliance with the aforesaid directions as stated therein.


Nitesh Kumar wins double gold at 4th Para-Badminton National Championship 2021  

World No. 7 Nitesh Kumar won two gold medals at the 4th Para-Badminton National Championship 2021 in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.

Nitesh, along with his partner Tarun, defeated world number one Paralympic Games gold medalists Pramod Bhagat and Manoj Sarkar in straight sets 21-19, 21-11 in the men's doubles final to win the gold medal. Earlier, Nitesh also won the gold medal in the Men’s singles category.


Uttarakhand government imposes night curfew due to increase Omicron cases  

Uttarakhand Government has imposed night curfew in the state as Omicron cases rise. Night curfew will be in effect from 11 pm to 5 am. 

As per the Uttarakhand government order, movement of essential services such as ambulances, vehicles carrying health workers and postal services have been exempted.


653 Omicron cases reported in country so far: COVID-19 Updates 

Six hundred 53 cases of Omicron have been reported in the country so far. Out of the total Omicron cases, Maharashtra has reported one hundred sixty-seven cases, followed by Delhi one hundred sixty-five, Kerala 57 cases and Telangana 55 cases.


India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 142.47 Cr; Recovery Rate currently at 98.40%

With the administration of 72,87,547 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 142.47 Cr (1,42,46,81,736) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.

The recovery of 6,450 patients in the last 24 hours has increased the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) to 3,42,43,945.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.40%, highest since March 2020. 6,358 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

India’s Active Caseload is presently at 75,456. Active cases constitute 0.22% of the country's total Positive Cases, which is lowest since March 2020.

The Weekly Positivity Rate at 0.64% remains less than 1% for the last 44 days now. The Daily Positivity rate reported to be 0.61%. The daily Positivity rate has remained below 2% for the last 85 days and below 3% for 120 consecutive days now.
