IAS Sanjay Kumar Singh Assumes Charge as Secretary Steel

Govt extends AFSPA in Nagaland for six more months

RBI imposes 2 lakh penalty on Chiplun Urban Co-operative Bank Ratnagiri  

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has imposed a monetary penalty of ₹2 lakh (Rupees Two lakh only) on Chiplun Urban Co-operative Bank Ltd., Ratnagiri (the bank) for contravention of/non-compliance with the directions issued by RBI on Exposure Norms and Statutory / Other Restrictions – UCBs.

Background 

The inspection report of the bank based on its financial position as on March 31, 2020, revealed, inter alia, that the bank had not adhered to Ceiling on Advances to Nominal Members in certain cases. Based on the same, a Notice was issued to the bank advising it to show cause as to why penalty should not be imposed for non-compliance with the aforesaid directions as stated therein.


RBI extends deadline for periodic KYC update to March 31, 2022 

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) extended the last date for KYC updation for bank accounts by three months to 31st March 2022.

In a notification on its website, the central bank said it was extending the deadline in view of the "prevailing uncertainty due to the new version of COVID-19".

FM Nirmala Sitharaman chairs Pre-Budget consultation with Finance Ministers of States  

Union Minister for Finance & Corporate Affairs Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman chaired the pre-budget consultations with the Finance Ministers of States and Union Territories (with Legislature) for Union Budget 2022-23 in New Delhi.

The meeting was attended by Union Minister of State for Finance, Chief Ministers, Deputy Chief Ministers, Finance Ministers, Ministers and Senior Officers from the States and Union Territories (with Legislature) and the Union Government.


Egypt join as 4th member of BRICS New Development Bank  

Egypt joined as the fourth new member of BRICS New Development Bank. India welcomed Egypt upon becoming a member. The External Affairs Ministry Spokesman Arindam Bagchi said, Bangladesh, UAE, and Uruguay joined in September this year.

New Development Bank: Objective 

The objective of the New Development Bank is to mobilize resources for development projects in BRICS, emerging economies and developing countries.


J&K administration signs 39 MoUs worth Rs 18 cr with country's real estate investors  

The Union Territory Jammu and Kashmir administration signed 39 memorandum of understanding (MoU) worth Rs 18,300 crore with the country's real estate investors for the development of housing and commercial projects.

All these MoU/agreements were signed during the Jammu and Kashmir Real Estate Summit 2021.

The J&K Real Estate Summit 2021 was organised by the J&K administration, Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs and realtors' body NAREDCO.


Union Minister Jitendra Singh releases science magazine in Hindi, Urdu and English 

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Science & Technology Dr Jitendra Singh today formally released Science monthly magazine in Hindi, Urdu and English and announced that the Dogri and Kashmiri versions of the same , along with other vernacular versions, will be released soon.

While the Hindi and English versions are based on the theme “Dream 2047” referring to the 100th year of India’s independence, the Urdu version is named Tajassus (Curiosity) and was prepared in association with Central University of Kashmir.

India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 143.83 Cr; Recovery Rate currently stands at 98.38%

With the administration of 63,91,282 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 143.83 Cr (1,43,83,22,742) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.

7,486 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) is now at 3,42,58,778.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.38%. 13,154 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

India’s Active Caseload is presently at 82,402. Active cases constitute 0.24% of the country's total Positive Cases.

The Weekly Positivity Rate at 0.76% remains less than 1% for the last 46 days now. The Daily Positivity rate reported to be 1.10%. The daily Positivity rate has remained below 2% for the last 87 days and below 3% for 122 consecutive days now.
