1. India, European Investment Bank sign finance contract of Euro 250 million for Agra Metro project
  • The Government of India (GoI) and European Investment Bank (EIB) signed a Finance Contract for the first tranche loan of Euro 250 million for the Agra Metro Rail Project.
  • The European Investment Bank (EIB) had approved a total loan of Euro 450 million to fund the Agra Metro Rail Project. The project aims to provide safe, reliable, affordable and environment friendly public Mass Rapid Transit System for Agra city which will improve mobility and support endeavour for planned urban development in Agra.


2. Centre imposes stock limits on Soya Meal for a period upto 30th June, 2022
  • In a bid to cool down the domestic prices of Soya Meal, Government of India has issued an Order by which it has imposed stock limits on Soya Meal for a period upto 30th June, 2022.
  • The Soya Meal Stock Control Order, 2021 has been issued with immediate effect i.e. from 23rd December, 2021. Under this Order, the stock limit has been set in consultation with the Department of Animal Husbandry & Dairying, Government of India.


3. Centre declares Soya Meal as an Essential Commodity up to 30th June, 2022
  • In a bid to cool down the domestic prices of Soya Meal, Government has notified an Order under the Essential Commodities Act to declare ‘Soya Meal’ as an Essential Commodities up to 30th June, 2022 by amending the Schedule of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955.
  • Government of India has issued a landmark Order where it has mentioned that in the Essential Commodities Act, 1955, in the Schedule, after serial No. (8), the following item shall be added, “(9) Soya Meal”.


4. AYUSH Ministry gives major boost to healthcare facilities in Uttar Pradesh under National AYUSH Mission
  • Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections 2022: The Ministry of AYUSH announced a slew of major initiatives to push healthcare facilities in the state of Uttar Pradesh. A total amount of ₹553.36 crore has been released by the Government of India to Uttar Pradesh for various activities under the National AYUSH Mission. These major announcements were made by Union Minister of AYUSH and Ports, Shipping & Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal today in the presence of Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath.

  • Vice Admiral Tarun Sobti, VSM assumed charge as Director General, Project Seabird/ IHQ MoD (Navy) from Vice Admiral Puneet K Bahl, AVSM, VSM on 24 Dec 21. 
  • Vice Admiral Tarun Sobti was Commanding Eastern Fleet prior assuming his present appointment and was commissioned into the Indian Navy on 01 Jul 1988. He is an alumnus of the 72nd Course, National Defence Academy, Khadakvasla, and was awarded the President’s Gold Medal on passing out.


6. India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 141 Cr; Recovery Rate currently at 98.40%
  • With the administration of 66,09,113 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 141 Cr (1,41,01,26,404) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.
  • The recovery of 7,286 patients in the last 24 hours has increased the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) to 3,42,23,263.
  • Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.40%, highest since March 2020. 7,189 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.
