1. PM Modi to inaugurate Kanpur Metro Rail Project on 28 Dec 2021
  • Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections 2022: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the completed section of Kanpur Metro Rail Project on 28th December 2021.
  • During the programme, Prime Minister Modi will also inaugurate the Bina-Panki Multi Product Pipeline Project. Prior to this, Prime Minister Modi will attend the 54th Convocation Ceremony of IIT Kanpur.


2. PM Modi inaugurate & lay foundation stone of hydropower projects in Mandi, Himachal Pradesh
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Mandi, Himachal Pradesh today. PM Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of hydropower projects worth over Rs 11,000 crore.
  • Prime Minister Modi laid the foundation stone of Renukaji Dam project. The 40 MW project will be built at a cost of around Rs 7000 crore. It will prove to be immensely beneficial for Delhi, which will be able to receive around 500 million cubic metre water supply per year.

  • Janata Dal (United) Rajya Sabha MP Mahendra Prasad, popularly known as `King Mahendra`, passed away. He was 81.

  • Vice Admiral Puneet K Bahl took over as the Commandant, Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala on 26 Dec 21. 
  • Vice Admiral Puneet K Bahl was commissioned into the Indian Navy on 01 Jul 84. An alumnus of NDA Khadakvasla, he has undertaken the Staff Course at DSSC Wellington and the Naval Higher Command Course at College of Naval Warfare, Mumbai.


6. Govt issues guidelines of COVID vaccination for Children between 15 to 18 years
  • Union Health Ministry on Monday issued guidelines for COVID-19 vaccination of children and precaution dose to Health Care Workers, Front Line Workers and for citizens above 60 years with comorbidities.
  • COVID-19 vaccination of children in the age group of 15 to 18 years will begin from 3rd of January, 2022. For these beneficiaries, the option of vaccination will be only Covaxin. All those aged 15 years or more will be able to register on CoWIN from 1st of January.


7. Reserve Bank of India (RBI) imposes 30 lakh penalty on MUFG Bank
  • The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has imposed a monetary penalty of ₹30 Lakh (Rupees Thirty Lakh only) on MUFG Bank Ltd. (the bank), for non-compliance with the directions issued by RBI on “Loans and Advances – Statutory and Other Restrictions”.


8. India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 141.70 Cr; Recovery Rate currently at 98.40%
  • With the administration of 29,93,283 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 141.70 Cr (1,41,70,25,654) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.
  • The recovery of 7,141 patients in the last 24 hours has increased the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) to 3,42,37,495.
  • Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.40%, highest since March 2020. 6,531 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.
