1. IAS Sanjay Kumar Singh Assumes Charge as Secretary Steel
  • Sanjay Kumar Singh assumed charge as the Secretary, Ministry of Steel in New Delhi. Sanjay Kumar Singh succeeds P.K. Tripathi, Secretary, Department of Personnel and Training(DoPT). Tripathi was holding the additional charge of Secretary Steel.
  • Sanjay Kumar Singh is a 1987 batch IAS officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre.


2. Govt extends AFSPA in Nagaland for six more months
  • Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) 1958 has been extended in Nagaland for six more months with effect from today.
  • In a notification issued by the Home Affairs Ministry, it has been stated that the Central Government is of the opinion that the State of Nagaland is in a disturbed and dangerous condition and the use of armed forces in aid of the civil power is necessary.


3. RBI imposes 2 lakh penalty on Chiplun Urban Co-operative Bank Ratnagiri
  • The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has imposed a monetary penalty of ₹2 lakh (Rupees Two lakh only) on Chiplun Urban Co-operative Bank Ltd., Ratnagiri (the bank) for contravention of/non-compliance with the directions issued by RBI on Exposure Norms and Statutory / Other Restrictions – UCBs.


4. RBI extends deadline for periodic KYC update to March 31, 2022
  • The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) extended the last date for KYC updation for bank accounts by three months to 31st March 2022.


5. PM Modi inaugurates and lays foundation stone of 23 projects at Haldwani in Uttarakhand
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of 23 projects worth over Rs 17500 crore in Uttarakhand.
  • PM Modi laid the foundation stone of the Lakhwar Multipurpose Project which was first conceived in 1976 and was pending for many years. He inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of Rs 8700 crore road sector projects. Kailash Mansarovar Yatra will also get improved connectivity.

  • Union Minister for Finance & Corporate Affairs Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman chaired the pre-budget consultations with the Finance Ministers of States and Union Territories (with Legislature) for Union Budget 2022-23 in New Delhi.


7. Egypt join as 4th member of BRICS New Development Bank
  • Egypt joined as the fourth new member of BRICS New Development Bank. India welcomed Egypt upon becoming a member.
  • The External Affairs Ministry Spokesman Arindam Bagchi said, Bangladesh, UAE, and Uruguay joined in September this year.


8. J&K administration signs 39 MoUs worth Rs 18 cr with country's real estate investors
  • The Union Territory Jammu and Kashmir administration signed 39 memorandum of understanding (MoU) worth Rs 18,300 crore with the country's real estate investors for the development of housing and commercial projects.
  • All these MoU/agreements were signed during the Jammu and Kashmir Real Estate Summit 2021.

  • India beat South Africa by 113 runs in the first Test at Centurion to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. This is India's first Test match victory at Centurion's ground.

11. India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 143.83 Cr; Recovery Rate currently stands at 98.38%
  • With the administration of 63,91,282 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 143.83 Cr (1,43,83,22,742) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.
  • 7,486 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) is now at 3,42,58,778.
  • Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.38%. 13,154 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.
