PM Modi to inaugurate 25th National Youth Festival on 12th January 2022    

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the 25th National Youth Festival on 12th January, 2022 in Puducherry, via video conferencing. The day, being the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, is observed as National Youth Day.

The Festival aims to shape the minds of India's youth and transform them into a united force for nation building. It is one of the biggest exercises in social cohesion and intellectual & cultural integration. It aims to bring diverse cultures of India and integrate them into a united thread of 'Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat'.

Prime Minister Modi to inaugurate 11 new medical colleges in Tamil Nadu on 12 January 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate 11 New Government Medical Colleges across Tamil Nadu and the new campus of Central Institute of Classical Tamil in Chennai, on 12th January, 2022 via video conferencing.

The new medical colleges are being established at an estimated cost of about Rs 4000 crore, out of which around Rs 2145 crore has been provided by the Union government and rest by the Tamil Nadu government. 

The districts in which the new Medical Colleges are being established are Virudhunagar, Namakkal, The Nilgiris, Tiruppur, Thiruvallur, Nagapattinam, Dindigul, Kallakurichi, Ariyalur, Ramanathapuram and Krishnagiri. Establishment of these medical colleges is in line with the Prime Minister's constant endeavour to promote affordable medical education and improve health infrastructure in all parts of the country.

The new medical colleges, with cumulative capacity of 1450 seats, are being established under the Centrally Sponsored scheme of ’Establishing of New Medical Colleges attached with existing district/referral hospital’. Under the scheme, medical colleges are established in districts, which do not have either a government or private medical college.

According to the All India Chess Federation, fourteen-year-old Bharath Subramaniyam has become the73rd Grandmaster of India.


India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 151.94 Cr; Recovery Rate currently at 96.62%

With the administration of more than 29 lakh Doses (29,60,975) vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 151.94 Cr (1,51,94,05,951) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.

46,569 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) is now at 3,45,00,172.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 96.62%. 1,79,723 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

India’s Active Caseload is presently at 7,23,619. Active cases constitute 2.03% of the country's total Positive Cases. The Weekly Positivity Rate in the country currently stands at 7.92% and the Daily Positivity rate also reported to be 13.29%.
