PM Modi and Mauritius PM Pravind Jugnauth jointly inaugurate the Social Housing Units Project in Mauritius  

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Prime Minister of Mauritius, Mr. Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, today jointly inaugurated the Social Housing Units Project in Mauritius. This project has been implemented as part of the vibrant development partnership between India and Mauritius.

On this occasion, the two Prime Ministers also took part in a virtual foundation stone laying ceremony for two other projects: construction of a state-of-the-art Civil Service College and a 8 MW Solar PV Farm also undertaken as part of India's development support. The event was held via video-conference.

Background

The Government of India in May 2016 had extended a grant of US$ 353 mn to the Government of Mauritius as Special Economic Package (SEP) to execute five priority projects identified by the Government of Mauritius, among others. These were: the Metro Express Project, Supreme Court Building, New ENT Hospital, Supply of Digital Tablets to Primary School Children, and the Social Housing Project. With the inauguration of the Social Housing Project today, all the high profile projects under the SEP have been implemented.


India, Sri Lanka extends existing S&T cooperation for 3 more years 

India and Sri Lanka extended the existing S&T cooperation for 3 more years, with focus on new areas like waste-water technologies, biotech, sustainable agriculture, aerospace engineering, robotics, big data analytics, and artificial intelligence, as well as industrial collaborations at the India-Sri Lanka 5th Joint Committee on S&T Cooperation held on January 20, 2022.


DRDO successfully test fires BrahMos supersonic cruise missile with enhanced capability 

Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully test-fired BrahMos supersonic cruise missile with indigenous material and superior performance from Integrated Test Range, Chandipur, off the coast of Odisha on January 20, 2022.

BrahMos supersonic cruise missile can be fired at Mach 2.8 or about 3 times the speed of sound and has range of 400 KM. The flight test is a major milestone in the way forward for BrahMos programme.......Read More

PM Modi to inaugurate new Circuit House at Somnath on 21st January 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the new Circuit House at Somnath on 21st January, 2022 via video conferencing.

Background

Somnath Temple is visited by lakhs of devotees from India and abroad every year. The need for the new Circuit House was felt as the existing government facility was located far off from the temple. 

The new Circuit House has been built at a cost of over Rs 30 crore and is located near the Somnath Temple. It is equipped with top class facilities including suites, VIP and deluxe rooms, conference room, auditorium hall etc. The landscaping has been done in such a manner that sea view is available from every room.


India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 159.67 Cr; Recovery Rate currently at 93.69%

With the administration of more than 73 lakh Doses (73,38,592) vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 159.67 Cr (1,59,67,55,879) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.

2,23,990 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) is now at 3,58,07,029.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 93.69%. 3,17,532 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

India’s Active Caseload is presently at 19,24,051. Active cases constitute 5.03% of the country's total Positive Cases. The Weekly Positivity Rate in the country currently stands at 16.06% and the Daily Positivity rate also reported to be 16.41%.
