India’s Exports of Ready To Eat products rises by 24% to $ 394 million in 2021-22 (April-Oct) compared to 2020-21 (April-Oct)   

India’s export of final consumer food products such as Ready to Eat (RTE), products has increased by 24 per cent to 394 million dollar in this financial year as compared to last financial year during April to October.

The major destination of RTE export as per 2020-21 data are U.S.A (18.73%), U.A.E (8.64%), Nepal (5%), Canada (4.77%), Sri Lanka (4.47%), Australia (4.2%), Sudan (2.95%), U.K (2.88%), Nigeria (2.38%), Singapore (2.01%).

According to the Ministry of Commerce, India’s export of final consumer food products such as Ready to Eat (RTE), Ready to Cook (RTC) and Ready to Serve (RTS) has registered a significant growth in the last one decade.

India’s exports of final foods products i.e; Ready to Eat (RTE), Ready to Cook (RTC) and Ready to Serve (RTS) was more than $ 2 billion in 2020-21.


Punjab and Maharashtra Co-operative Bank branches to operate as Unity Small Finance Bank branches 

The Government of India has sanctioned and notified the Scheme for the amalgamation of the Punjab and Maharashtra Co-operative Bank Ltd. (PMC Bank) with Unity Small Finance Bank Ltd. (USFBL).

The amalgamation will come into force with effect from the date of the notification of the scheme i.e. January 25, 2022. All the branches of the PMC Bank will function as branches of Unity Small Finance Bank Ltd. with effect from this date.


RBI imposes 1 lakh penalty on Rajkot Peoples Co-operative Bank Rajkot (Gujarat) 

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has imposed a monetary penalty of ₹1.00 lakh (Rupees one lakh only) on “Rajkot Peoples Co-operative Bank Ltd.”, Rajkot (Gujarat) (the bank) for contravention of directions issued by RBI on ‘Loans and advances to directors, relatives and firms /concerns in which they are interested’.

This action is based on deficiencies in regulatory compliance and is not intended to pronounce upon the validity of any transaction or agreement entered into by the bank with its customers.

Background

The statutory inspection of the bank conducted by the RBI with reference to the bank’s financial position as on March 31, 2019, the Inspection Report pertaining thereto and examination of all related correspondence revealed, inter alia, that the bank had granted loans to relatives of one of its directors, resulting in contravention of aforesaid directions issued by the RBI. In furtherance to the same, a notice was issued to the bank advising it to show cause as to why penalty should not be imposed for contravention of the aforesaid directions issued by the RBI.


Budget session of Parliament to start from 31 Jan with President Ram Nath Kovind's address in both houses 

The Budget session of Parliament will start from 31 January 2021 with President Ram Nath Kovind's address in both houses. Ahead of the Budget session of Parliament, Rajya Sabha Chairman, M Venkaiah Naidu has convened an all-party meeting tomorrow to ensure smooth functioning of the House.

Economic Survey 2021-22 will be tabled on the same Day (31st January 2022) in the Parliament. Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Union Budget on 1st February 2022. Both the Houses of Parliament will function in shifts to ensure COVID-19 safety protocol.


PM Modi to address 30th NCW Foundation Day programme on 31st Jan 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address 30th National Commission for Women (NCW) Foundation Day programme on 31st January, 2022 via video conferencing. The theme of the programme is ‘She The Change Maker’, aimed at celebrating the achievements of women in different fields.

The State Commissions for Women, Department of Women and Child Development in State Governments, University and College teaching faculty and students, voluntary organisations, women entrepreneurs and business associations will be a part of the event. Union Minister for Women and Child Development will also be present on the occasion.


Digital Sansad Mobile App: Connecting people to Parliament 

As part of the consistent efforts to improve the digital footprint of the Lok Sabha and to connect people to Parliament, the ‘Digital Sansad App’ has been launched on 27 January 2022.

Key Highlights

Digital Sansad App will keep citizens updated on all Parliamentary proceedings and other activities. The App will make it convenient for citizens to access general information on Members of Parliament, their participation in Sessions, on budget speeches since 1947, House proceedings from 12th Lok Sabha to 17th Lok Sabha. The App will also contain the live telecast of Sansad proceedings, the major news of the day, etc. Apart from a virtual tour of the Parliament, the 2022 Budget Session too can be watched live on the App.

India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 165.70 Cr; Recovery Rate currently stands at 94.21%

With the administration of more than 62 lakh Doses (62,22,682) vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 165.70 Cr (1,65,70,60,692) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.

3,52,784 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) is now at 3,87,13,494.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 94.21%. 2,34,281 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

India’s Active Caseload is presently at 18,84,937. Active cases constitute 4.59% of the country's total Positive Cases. The Weekly Positivity Rate in the country currently stands at 16.40% and the Daily Positivity rate also reported to be 14.50%.
