1. India, Denmark agree to work together on green fuels including green hydrogen
  • India & Denmark agreed to initiate joint research and development on green fuels including green hydrogen, during the Joint S&T Committee meeting on 14th January 2022.
  • The Joint Committee discussed national strategic priorities and developments in Science, Technology, and Innovation of both countries with a special focus on green solutions of the future - strategy for investments in green research, technology, and innovation at the virtual meeting.


2. Cabinet approves infusion 1,500 crore in Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA)
  • The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved the equity infusion of Rs.1500 crore in Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Limited (IREDA).
  • This equity infusion will help in employment generation of approximately 10200 jobs-year and CO2 equivalent emission reduction of approximately 7.49 Million Tonnes CO2/year.


3. Cabinet approves extension tenure of the National Commission for Safai Karamcharis for three years
  • The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the extension of the tenure of the National Commission for Safai Karamcharis (NCSK) for three years beyond 31.3.2022.
  • The total implication of the extension for three years would be approximately Rs.43.68 crore.

5. India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 158.88 Cr; Recovery Rate currently at 93.88%
  • With the administration of more than 76 lakh Doses (76,35,229) vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 158.88 Cr (1,58,88,47,554) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.
  • 1,88,157 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) is now at 3,55,83,039.
  • Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 93.88%. 2,82,970 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.
