1. India, France sign MoU for cooperation in health research
  • In an important milestone in S&T Cooperation between India and France an MoU was signed between Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and  Institut Pasteur with a scope for cooperation in health research. 
  • The MoU provides for developing potential scientific and technological cooperation and networking in advanced and emerging areas of Human Health between scientists and institutes/laboratories of CSIR and Institut Pasteur and its international network.


2. Joint Maritime Exercise: PASCHIM LEHAR (XPL-2022)
  • A joint maritime exercise Paschim Lehar (XPL-2022) conducted by the Indian Navy off the West Coast was concluded on 25 January 2022.
  • The exercise was conducted over a duration of 20 days with an objective to validate operational plans of the Western Naval Command and enhance Inter-Service synergy among the Indian Navy, IAF, Indian Army and Coast Guard.

  • Noted Kathakali dancer Ms. Milena Salvini passed away. Milena is a French national who had a great contribution in popularising the glory of Kerala's traditional dance form Kathakali in Western countries. Milena Salvini was awarded the Padma Shri by the nation in 2019 for her contribution to Kathakali.


4. India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 163.58 Cr; Recovery Rate currently stands at 93.23%
  • With the administration of more than 59 lakh Doses (59,50,731) vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 163.58 Cr (1,63,58,44,536) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.
  • 2,99,073 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) is now at 3,73,70,971.
  • Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 93.23%. 2,85,914 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.
