1. RBI appoints Deepak Kumar as new Executive Director (ED)
  • The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has appointed Dr. Deepak Kumar as new Executive Director (ED) with effect from January 03, 2022.
  • Prior to being promoted as Executive Director (ED), Dr. Deepak Kumar was heading the Department of Information Technology of the Reserve Bank of India.


2. RBI appoints Ajay Kumar Choudhary as new Executive Director (ED)
  • The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has appointed Ajay Kumar Choudhary as new Executive Director (ED) with effect from January 03, 2022. 
  • Prior to being promoted as Executive Director (ED), Shri Ajay Kumar Choudhary was Chief General Manager-in-Charge, Department of Supervision.


3. Prime Minister Modi to inaugurate 25th National Youth Festival in Puducherry on Jan 12
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the 25th National Youth Festival in the Union Territory of Puducherry on January 12 at the Pondicherry Central University campus.
  • Around 7000 youth from across the country and 500 youth from Puducherry aged between 18 and 22 are expected to participate in the 5-day youth festival to be held from January 12 to 16.

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated 13 Projects worth around Rs. 1850 crores and laid the foundation stone of 9 projects worth around Rs 2950 crore in Imphal, Manipur.
  • These projects relate to diverse sectors such as Road Infrastructure, Drinking Water Supply, Health, Urban Development, Housing, Information Technology, Skill Development, Art and Culture, among others.


6. PM Modi to lay foundation stone of multiple development projects in Punjab today
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone of multiple development projects worth more than Rs 42,750 crore in Ferozepur, Punjab today.
  • These projects include Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway; four laning of Amritsar – Una section; Mukerian - Talwara New Broad Gauge railway line; PGI Satellite Centre at Ferozepur and two medical colleges at Kapurthala and Hoshiarpur.


7. SAI has approved the extension of the National Camp till March 31 for 117 athletes
  • Sports Authority of India (SAI) has approved the extension of the National Camp till March 31 for 117 track and field athletes and 45 coaching and support staff in five locations across the country in preparation for the Commonwealth Games and Asian Games to be held in Birmingham and Hangzhou later this year.


8. BCCI postpones Ranji Trophy, Col CK Nayudu Trophy and Senior Women's T20 League due to hike COVID-19 cases
  • Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the postponement of the Ranji Trophy, Col CK Nayudu Trophy and Senior Women's T20 League for the 2021-22 season in the wake of the hiked COVID-19 cases in the country.


9. 2135 Omicron cases reported in country so far: COVID-19 Updates
  • A total of 2135 cases of Omicron have been reported in the country so far. Out of the total cases, Maharashtra has reported 653 followed by Delhi with 464, Kerala with 185 cases and Rajasthan has reported 174 cases.


10. India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 147.72 Cr; Recovery Rate currently at 98.01%
  • With the administration of more than 96 lakh Doses (96,43,238) vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 147.72 Cr (147,72,08,846) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.
  • 15,389 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) is now at 3,43,21,803.
  • Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.01%. 58,097 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.
