India, World Bank sign USD 125 million loan to support access to Social Protection Services in West Bengal 

The Government of India, the Government of West Bengal, and the World Bank signed a $125 million IBRD loan to support efforts to help poor and vulnerable groups access social protection services in the state of West Bengal.

West Bengal runs more than 400 programs that provide social assistance, care services, and jobs. Most of these services are offered through an umbrella platform called Jai Bangla.

The West Bengal Building State Capability for Inclusive Social Protection Project will support these interventions at the state level, with particular focus on vulnerable groups such as women, tribal and scheduled caste households, and the elderly, as well as households in the state’s disaster-prone coastal regions.......Read More


Cabinet approves establishment of WHO Global Centre for Traditional Medicine in India 

The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the establishment of the WHO Global Centre for Traditional Medicine (WHO GCTM) in Jamnagar, Gujarat by signing a Host Country agreement between the Government of India and the World Health Organization (WHO).

The WHO GCTM will be established in Jamnagar under the Ministry of AYUSH. This would be the first and only global outposted Centre (office) for traditional medicine across the globe.


Cabinet approves MoU signed between Indian Council of Medical Research, India and Oxford University, UK 

The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi was apprised of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and the Oxford University, the UK in November 2021 and in accordance with Rule 7(d) (i) of the Second Schedule of the Government of India (Transaction of Business) rules 1961.

Objective

The Objectives under the MoU are Capacity building for Indian scientists and researchers, Collection of data compliant with international standards and regulatory requirements, Development of India towards becoming a regional hub for capacity development using its own funds and following the principles of equity and sovereignty, jointly raise and pool funds with time-bound hosting of IDDO secretariat towards achieving the outcomes at ICMR, and building partnership in and beyond data and skill-sharing with equity and transparency.


India and Canada to hold 5th Ministerial Dialogue on Trade and Investment (MDTI) 

5th India – Canada Ministerial Dialogue on Trade & Investment (MDTI) to be held in New Delhi from 10-13 March 2022.

The Honourable Mary Ng, Minister of International Trade, Export Promotion, Small Business and Economic Development, Government of Canada will be visiting New Delhi.

During the MDTI meeting various bilateral trade and investment issues will be discussed in order to further strengthen the bilateral ties and economic partnership including India-Canada Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA).

Pusa Krishi Vigyan Mela – 2022 held in New Delhi 

Union Minister of State Kailash Choudhary inaugurated Pusa Krishi Vigyan Mela 2022 in New Delhi. The three day Krishi Mela is being organized by the ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI).

There is a provision of 60 stalls, haats and shops in this huge complex to promote farmer entrepreneurship. Thousands of progressive farmers, women entrepreneurs and start-ups from different parts of the country have participated in the fair.


Conservative candidate Yoon Suk-Yeol elected as new President of South Korea 

In South Korea, opposition candidate Yoon Suk Yeol, a conservative former top prosecutor, has been elected as the country's new President. Yoon Suk Yeol defeated his ruling liberal party opponent Lee Jae-myung.

With more than 99 percent of the ballots counted, People Power Party candidate Yoon won 48.6 percent of the votes, narrowly edging his rival Lee Jae-myung of Democratic Party, who garnered 47.8 percent.


Australian Army Chief Lt Gen Richard Maxwell Burr visit to India from 08 to 11 March 2022 

Lt Gen Richard Maxwell Burr AO, DSC, MVO, Chief of Army Australia along with four member delegation is visiting India from 08 to 11 March 2022.

Lt Gen Richard Burr called on the Chief of Army Staff, Chief of Naval Staff, Chief of Air Staff and other senior military officers. Interaction between both the Chiefs of the Army Staff was warm and cordial. 

Both Chiefs exchanged views on the current global situation and the situation in the Indo-Pacific in addition to discussing measures for enhancing defence cooperation between both armies.


Australian Army Research Centre signs MoU with Centre for Land Warfare Studies India 

Lt Gen Richard Burr, the Chief of the Australian Army is on a three day visit to India from 08 March 2022.

In order to establish academic cooperation and engagement, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was also signed between Australian Army Research Centre (AARC) and Centre for Land Warfare Studies (CLAWS) on the side-lines of the visit.


India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 179.53 Cr; Recovery Rate currently stands at 98.70%

With the administration of more than 18.23 lakh Doses (18,23,329) vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 179.53 Cr (1,79,53,95,649) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.

6,554 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) is now at 4,24,20,120.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.70%. 4,184 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

India’s Active Caseload is presently at 44,488. Active cases constitute 0.10% of the country's total Positive Cases. The Weekly Positivity Rate in the country currently stands at 0.58% and the Daily Positivity rate is reported to be 0.48%.
