Envoys of five nations present credentials to President Kovind

36th International Geological Congress to be held in New Delhi

The 36th International Geological Congress (IGC), themed “Geosciences: The Basic Science for a Sustainable Future” will be held here during 20-22 March, 2022 on a virtual platform.

The 36th IGC is a joint endeavour of the Ministry of Mines, Ministry of Earth Sciences, Indian National Science Academy and the Science Academies of Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka. Described as the Olympics of Geosciences, the IGCs are held quadrennial, under the aegis of the International Union of Geological Congress (IUGS), the Scientific Sponsor of the IGCs. They draw participants to the tune of around 5000 - 7000 delegates from all over the world.

The 36th IGC has been themed as “Geoscience - the Basic Science for a Sustainable Future”.

Bhagwant Mann Sworn-in as Punjab CM in Bhagat Singh's Village Khatkar Kalan

Aam Aadmi Party leader Bhagwant Mann took the oath of office and secrecy as the 17th Chief Minister of Punjab at Khatkar Kalan, the native village of freedom fighter Bhagat Singh.

Governor Banwarilal Purohit administered the oath of office and secrecy to Mann was attended by Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal along with members of his Cabinet. AAP won 92 out of 117 assembly seats in Punjab.

India’s Cumulative COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 180.80 Cr; Recovery Rate currently stands at 98.73%

India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 180.80 Cr (1,80,80,24,147) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.

COVID-19 vaccination for the age group 12-14 years was started on 16 March, 2022. In the last 24 hours, more than 3 lakh (3,00,405) adolescents have been administered with the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine.

India’s Active Caseload has further declined to 30,799 today, constituting 0.07% of the country's total Positive Cases. 2,539 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.73%. 4,491 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) is now at 4,24,54,546.

The Weekly Positivity Rate in the country currently stands at 0.42% and the Daily Positivity rate is reported to be 0.35%.
