India, US hold 19th Military Cooperation meeting in Agra to strengthen defence cooperation   

The 19th edition of India-US Military Cooperation Group (MCG) meeting was held in Agra, Uttar Pradesh on March 01-02, 2022.

Sea Phase of Multilateral Naval Exercise MILAN 2022 commenced: 1st March 22 

Sea Phase of MILAN 2022 commenced on 01 Mar 22. A total of 26 ships, 21 aircraft and one submarine are participating in the multilateral naval exercise being conducted in the Bay of Bengal. The Sea phase is scheduled till 04 Mar and includes advanced and complex exercises in all three dimensions of maritime operations.

Aims

The Sea Phase of MILAN aims to enhance interoperability and maritime cooperation, and share best practices amongst the participating navies. The schedule includes Weapon firings, Seamanship evolutions, advanced anti-submarine warfare exercises, cross deck helicopter landings, simulation of complex operational scenarios and tactical manoeuvres.


12th edition of DefExpo 2022 from 10-14 March at Gandhinagar 

The Ministry of Defence is hosting the 12th edition of the prestigious biennial defence exhibition, DefExpo 2022, at Gandhinagar in Gujarat from 10th to 14th March. This mega defence international exhibition will be focused on land, air, naval, internal homeland security and electronic systems.


Jal Shakti Minister inaugurated the ‘Roorkee Water Conclave 2022’   

Union Minister for Jal Shakti Gajendra Singh Shekhawat inaugurated the 2nd edition of the ‘Roorkee Water Conclave’ at IIT, Roorkee. The Conclave is being jointly organised from 2nd March to 4th March 2022 by Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee and National Institute of Hydrology.

Focusing on the theme, 'Water Security for Sustainable Development', this year’s Conclave would focus upon understanding water security and its multiple facets underpinning sustainable water resource management as a key component of social development.


ECI Orders Repoll in 12 Polling Booths in Manipur on 5th March

Election Commission of India (ECI) has ordered re-poll in 12 polling stations of five constituencies in Manipur where polling was held on 28th February. The twelve polling stations, where repoll will be held belong to five assembly constituencies- Khundrakpam, Thanlon, Saitu, Henglep, and Singhat.

One of the main reasons for consideration of re-polling was connected to damage of EVMs by miscreants during and after the poll.


National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) sends relief material to Ukraine  

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has sent relief material to Ukraine. The NDRF has provided relief material including blankets, sleeping mats, and solar study lamps etc. for the people of Ukraine. The relief material was sent through a flight that left for Poland this morning and another on an Indian Air Force (IAF) flight that left for Romania this afternoon.


Over 6200 Indians have returned from Ukraine through special Civilian flights: Operation Ganga 

India has mounted a massive rescue operation named ‘Operation Ganga’ to bring back Indian citizens stranded in Ukraine. Over 6200 Indians have returned from Ukraine through special Civilian flights; more than 7400 Indians expected to arrive in next two days.

The Ministry of External Affairs, in close coordination with the Ministry of Civil Aviation, is making all efforts to bring the Indian students back to India at a fast pace. Indian Airlines are putting their resources into a faster evacuation process.

Four Union Ministers- Shri Hardeep Singh Puri, Shri Jyotiraditya M Scindia, Shri Kiren Rijiju and Gen (Retd) V.K. Singh has gone to countries adjoining Ukraine to support and supervise these operations. Indian Civilian planes as well as Indian Air Force planes are regularly bringing back stranded Indian students.

The evacuation process, which began on 22nd February, has brought back over 6200 persons so far, including 2185 persons coming today through 10 special civilian flights.

Today’s flights included 5 from Bucharest, 2 from Budapest, 1 from Kosice, and 2 from Rzeszow by Civilian airlines. In addition, 3 IAF flights are bringing more Indians today. The number of civilian flights will be scaled up further, and more than 7400 persons are expected to be brought through special flights in the next two days. 3500 persons are expected to be brought back tomorrow and over 3900 on 5th March.


India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 178 Cr; Recovery Rate currently stands at 98.62%

With the administration of more than 21 lakh Doses (21,83,976) vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 178 Cr (1,78,02,63,222) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.

14,947 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) is now at 4,23,53,620.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.62%. 6,561 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

India’s Active Caseload is presently at 77,152. Active cases constitute 0.18% of the country's total Positive Cases. The Weekly Positivity Rate in the country currently stands at 0.99% and the Daily Positivity rate is reported to be 0.74%
