Indian Vice Presidential Election 2022 to be held on August 6   

16th Vice Presidential Election 2022: The Vice Presidential Election will be held on the 6th of August 2022. The counting of votes will be held on the same day if required.

According to the Election Commission of India (ECI) notification for the election will be issued on 5th July and nominations can be filed till 19th of next month.

Indian Army & Defence Accounts Department holds 4th Synergy Conference in New Delhi  

Fourth Synergy Conference between Indian Army and Defence Accounts Department (DAD) was held in New Delhi. The day-long conference was co-chaired by Vice Chief of Army Staff (VCOAS) Lt Gen BS Raju & Controller General of Defence Accounts (CGDA) Shri Rajnish Kumar and attended by senior officers of Indian Army and DAD.

Primary Agenda

The primary agenda of the conference included deliberations on AGNIPATH scheme and the schedule for timely implementation of a system for pay and allowances for Agniveers. Other agenda items included improving the functioning of Pay and Accounts Offices (PAOs) for better service delivery to Junior Commissioned Officers/Other Ranks of the Indian Army. Concrete action plans for the future were devised in consultation with senior officers of both sides.


ISRO launch rocket PSLV-C53, carrying three Singapore satellites 

Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) is set to launch the rocket PSLV-C53, carrying three Singapore satellites at 6.02 pm today. The launch vehicle will lift off from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota. 

Six nano-satellites including those belonging to India's two private space start-ups also will go to space, in today's Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) mission.


India Centre inaugurated at Busan University of Foreign Studies in South Korea  

Busan University of Foreign Studies (BUFS) established an India Centre for promotion of India focused activities in the University.

According to a note from the Indian Embassy in Seoul, the Centre will act as a nodal point for India-related events in Busan and serve as a ready resource for students interested in India and to expand academic and cultural cooperation with the University.

The Centre has also appointed a team of 10 volunteers who will be helping in organizing the activities from time-to-time. The possible future activities and programmes of the Centre could include performances, workshops, lecdems, exhibitions etc.


Uddhav Thackeray resigns as CM of Maharashtra

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has resigned, ahead of today's trust vote in the state assembly.

The move comes after the Supreme Court refused to stay the floor-test that was to take place today as directed by Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari.


Cabinet approves Strategic Partnership Agreement between MNRE India and IRENA     

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi was apprised of a Strategic Partnership Agreement signed between the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India and the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA). The Agreement was signed in January 2022.

Aims 

The aim of the Agreement is to drive ambition, leadership and knowledge on green energy transitions based on renewable energy in India. The Agreement will help India’s energy transition efforts and will also help the world in combating climate change.


Cabinet approves MoU between India and Singapore on Science, Technology and Innovation 

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi was apprised of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the Department of Science and Technology of India and the Ministry of Trade and Industry of the Government of Singapore on Cooperation in the fields of Science, Technology and Innovation. The MoU was signed in February 2022.


The MoU will provide a mechanism and help in creating and ecosystem that will promote innovation and entrepreneurship in both countries leading to new technology creation, manpower training, IP generation through collaboration.


Cabinet approves Deregulation of Sale of Domestically Produced Crude Oil 

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved ‘Deregulation of Sale of Domestically Produced Crude Oil’, whereby the Government has decided to cease allocation of crude oil and condensate w.e.f. 01.10.2022.


This will ensure marketing freedom for all Exploration and Production (E&P) operators. The condition in the Production Sharing Contracts (PSCs) to sell crude oil to Government or its Nominee or Government Companies shall accordingly be waived off. All E&P companies will now be free to sell crude oil from their fields in the domestic market. Government revenues like Royalty, cess, etc. will continue to be calculated on a uniform basis across all Contracts. As earlier, exports will not be permissible.


Cabinet approves Computerization of Primary Agriculture Credit Societies (PACS) 

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved Computerization of Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) with the objective of increasing efficiency of PACS, bringing transparency and accountability in their operations; facilitating PACS to diversify their business and undertake multiple activities/ services.


This project proposes computerization of about 63,000 functional PACS over a period of 5 years with a total budget outlay of Rs. 2516 crore with Government of India share of Rs. 1528 crore.


India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 197.61 Cr; Recovery Rate currently stands at 98.55%

India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 197.61 Cr (1,97,61,91,554) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.

COVID-19 vaccination for the age group 12-14 years was started on 16 March, 2022. So far, more than 3.66 Cr (3,66,66,548) adolescents have been administered with the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Similarly, the COVID-19 precaution dose administration for age group 18-59 years also started from 10th April, 2022 onwards.

India’s Active Caseload currently stands at 1,04,555. Active cases now constitute 0.24% of the country's total Positive Cases. 18,819 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.55%. 13,827 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) is now at 4,28,22,493.

The Weekly Positivity Rate in the country currently stands at 3.72% and the Daily Positivity rate is reported to be 4.16%.
